Barefoot

barefoot

barefoot and pregnant
she knew her place
the kitchen by day
the bedroom by night

wash and cook
care for the children
then tend to her man
to fulfill his desires

she had an opinion
that mattered not
and longed for the day
all that would change

she heard of a meeting
to have women heard
a novel idea that
had to be shared

She dressed in her best
and walked into town
she listened then acted
the world changed forever
