Laulindah Shiku Poem
Overwhelmed by his love,
My lover set out to weave a tent for me
A house, with me in which it would delight him to dwell
A grand mansion over which He spared no expense
Consumed with loving concern for my security,
My maker set about it two formidable lines of defense
To the first He said 'wage war against any and every invader'
And the second He trained in precision and memory
To every command issued, they attacked and grew in number
Knowing His Lady well,
My creek in the rock set forth to install the plumbing
To some vessels He said 'supply', and 'drain' He said to others
And if there be a leakage
He commands the waters 'congeal!'
And they clot in obedience
Despising darkness
The Father of celestial lights set up incomparable wiring
To the Brain He said 'you're the master' and a cord He made its Deputy
And as they coursed down miles and miles of nerves,
To some neurotransmitters He said 'charge' and 'relax' He said to others
And they carried His commands in obeisance
Anticipating my needs
My All-sufficient one set up a beautiful storehouse
To the inlet He said ' curve and dazzle me with her smile'
And He stretched out convoluted tunnels to reap of all I ate
He placed command on the Liver to preserve and replenish
And it said, 'gladly, even if I must grow again'
What house is without ventilation?!
The Breath of life decided; not his bride's!
So He breathed in me and my lungs inflated
And with each time I exhaled
He commanded that I be purified
So afraid of His holy presence, the waste escapes
Paying attention to fine detail
The matchless artist set forth to decorate me
To pheromones He said 'give her fragrance'
And to my gonads He commanded 'keep her soft and supple'
And in delight, they linked with others to keep my house gorgeous
Jealously possessive, this touch is especially His
My Lover set up His secret Chambers
To my Heart He gave a song
And as it sings relentlessly
I hear the echo of his name...
I am, I am, I am.

Laulindah Shiku Poem
To the one I love,
As you daily peer into this mirror
Be reminded my love, the face you behold
Is mine.
Look intently at your lips
Gatekeepers to my mouth
And do recall, every smile they curve
Is mine.
See the look in your eyes
Windows to my soul
And rest assured, everything they desire
Is mine.
Take a glimpse at your nose,
Sculpted to give vent to my heart
And understand, the air they breathe
Is for me.
I lay claim to this face,
With the heavens at my backing,
So, grasp this, I implore
Your face and all that escorts it
Is for me.

Laulindah Shiku Poem
Like the harlot thrust at his feet,
My eyes knew to be downcast
For my punishment would be just.
His love had other plans.
Mercy sprung from his heart
Undeserved, unearned
Healed my heart and made it clean
A virgin I was again!
My knees knew they could stand
For in his grace they could walk Road Repentance.
Yes, clad in filth I fell at his feet
He claimed me for himself
Never was his love ashamed to be seen with me
And now, as his bride clad in white
I find delight in kissing his feet.

Laulindah Shiku Poem
My love, my all
Let me share this secret with you
I am after your heart,
I will pursue it until it beats in synchrony with mine!
I will dwell in its innermost room and refuse to leave!
And the impossibility-specialist himself is in my corner!
I love you and I will tell you everyday
Until your own heart, tells you my love is true.
Until your own heart is my heart.

Laulindah Shiku Poem
To well meaning voices and mockers alike
Who scream to my heart "give chase"
For this truth I implore, do brace.
Your alarm clocks of me misplace
For the flower which calls my body its vase
Will not be hurried to bloom.
My truth as prickly as a rose
From shame I have retraced to embrace
Reputation and Opinions, I command you Displace!
And give way and room for grace!
For you see, this is my space
With a destiny assured within this trace.
So relax, I pray...
This is my race, to run at my pace.

Laulindah Shiku Poem
I love many things my child,
I love rainy days, the smell of the earth soaked,
And flowers boasting of their apparel.
I love wintry nights and starry skies,
And the melody they hum of sights they've seen.
I love pointless walks and the thoughts they bring,
And strangers encountered in separate universes.
I love music and its power to release,
And the feelings that refuse to stay hid at its symphony.
I love food, the sweet and sour,
And its pull on loved ones to meet.
I love spirits that dare to run wild, the purity of their tears,
And the beauty of their purpose.
I love many, many things my child,
But none more than the lilt of your laughter and the feel of your arms around my neck.
