When the Lilacs Bloom

When the Lilacs Bloom
there comes a Time
When little girls Glance
and little boys Giggle
When Hearts open Wide
and Welcome in Fools
And Big, Strong men
tell weak little Lies
And tiny, sweet Women
Feign Loving Smiles
all the while
Knowing--
but Avoiding the Truth
It is a Time of Discovery—
When the Lilacs Bloom

When the Lilacs Bloom
there is Love in the air
There is Beauty surrounding
And Birds everywhere
Let the Delicate aroma
Whisper along the Breeze
Enticing each Nostril—
Encouraging a sneeze
Many Secrets are embedded--
sealed inside each Breath
of fresh Sweetness
and within the Petal
of each miniature Lavender Star
Never to be Revealed--
When the Lilacs Bloom
