Mashallo Samilo Poem
WELCOME TO MALAWI
Where you can drink Nthobwa
Where you can eat Chambo fish
Where you can see the beautiful view of mount Mulanje
You are welcome to the warm heart of Africa
Where you can feel our nature
Where you can see our priceless culture
Where you can dance Malipenga
You are welcome to the warm heart of Africa
Malawi, it’s a place to be
Where peace reigns
Where everyone is everybody
Regardless of skin color, my tribe, my race
Malawians are beautiful and friendly people
You are welcome to Malawi

Mashallo Samilo Poem
THIS IS THE SOUND
Food to my heart and soul
Sugar to my ear
Drums beating and guitars skanking
The humming sends me to heaven
The rhythm mends the scattered pieces of my heart
The shelter to my feelings
One dance changed my position
She followed the sound coming from my room
Bobbing my head as I sing along
Dodging the pangs of this ball
A note sets my mood for each day
Unimaginable catastrophe on earth without the vibe
An instant travel around the globe while one is next to the stereo
The twinkling lights, the tigers but only music complements the booze perfectly
Food to my soul and heart
Sugar to my ear
Drums beating and guitars skanking
The humming sends me to heaven
First hit was my granny ululating song, “a star is born”
End of my line, choruses escort me to my final destination

Mashallo Samilo Poem
BLACK RIND
The scorching sun can’t dilute it’s tone
The tears neither can wash the dark away
No cream does the blackening, it’s indigenous
Insects and flies pose no harm to the tar.
The colour that defines majesty and endurance
The complexion that holds the magic
The magic that pans deleterious effulgence
Being in forests, deserts, ice grounds……….,
The magic still remains
