Ahead of Time

As the side of my head,
Touches the side of my pillow,
It was like my lips meeting with that of my lover,
I felt... One.
But here he come
Boom boom boom!
Knocking, but more so banging on my door,
Poppa wasnt a rolling stone.
Wish he was at times...
Just cause of how hard he would go on us;
Me,
Me in particular!
Why me?
Why cant i just take it easy?
"Go out and get busy!!!"
Poppa kept insisting.
Whats his problem against me?
I will do so, but just let me do me
I looked at the time
And it was 7ish,
"Aaaaaahhhhh old man stressin!"
My ego told me that.
So I got comfortable a little,
Slept a little,
Ate a little,
Heck, i even skeet skeeted a little....
But my heart wasnt satisfied yet
Looked at the time again
And it was 7 years later...
Damn!
Time passes fast huh
Still the side of my head
Touching the side of my pillow
I had gotten too comfortable
While life passed me by.
And my hustle muscle was inactive
To be honest, it was like a dead car battery
That needed a boost urgently
In order to pick up what was destined for me
I was told her name was "Oppurtunity"
She was irresistible, I heard.
And she was waiting for me to scoop her up
But like a bad date
I kept her waiting and waiting and waiting
My lack of punctuality almost dried out her patience
And just at the brink of her leaving
I came running in,
Breathing hard and fumbling words
Trying to deliver an apology
Just to win her respect back
But then She right away asked me
"If you really wanted me in the first place,
Wouldnt you have atleast prepared yourself better?"
... She was right...
I did look unprepared
...(Sigh)....
I could almost hear in the back of my head
boom boom boom!
That knocking on the door.
