Woman

Entering your life she emanates great fun
She spreads her glory like the celestial sun
She gifts her love forever in abundance
Often she is left in ignorance and redundance
Despite all odds she puts up a brave face
Meeting all ends she is running a race
WOMAN, she exemplifies beauty and grace
At times she wants her own little space
A bow to all women on this very special day
God give them strength and forbearance I pray
(Rashmi)

Age of Innocence

Sitting on the pavement, an innocent face
In a dignified poise with beauty and grace
A smile on her lips, she gives a pleasant look
Her creations of jewellery hung on every hook
Tiny little fingers she held them before me
Anticipation and anxiety, in her eyes I could see
Her fingers looked sore as the money they took
They were tiny soft and pink, they trembled and shook
In her childhood days she should be sitting with a book
Or dance and play and swim in a brook
Weaving threads of wool and beads in a strand?
This is not her age nor the place for her to stand

Silence

Their words were loud even in their silence
Miles away she could feel his presence
His voice echoed in her ears at a distance
His musical notes filled the gap in his absence
