Uncaged Bird

Uncaged Bird

Today, I had the instinct
Of an uncaged bird
I felt what an uncaged bird feels:
The feeling that I can fly
And the freedom to fly as I wish
So I decided to fly around the world
To explore its fulness
Not leaving out its emptiness
To explore its glamour
Without bias to its squalor
In the course of my traverse
I landed in the house of the poor
I beheld their pursuit of riches
I landed in the house of the cynics
I caught a full glimpse of their pessimism
I landed in the house of the oppressed
I saw their crave for freedom
I landed in the house of the greedy
I heard their never-ending melody
of "We want some more."

Corruption

A monster that refuses to die
A shame that lingers on
A menace to the society
Impenetrable to bullet
Immune to euthanasia
Insulated against electrocution
The root cause of our underdevelopment
It's sent our economy to ruination
And our saints to damnation
It stings like a bee
Spits venom like a viper
A biased steward that serves those
Who already have a belly full
Of the national cake
At the expense of the have-nots

A demon that possess our leaders
With no hope of exorcism
Now they preach capital influx
But practice capital flight
They preach unity
But finance disunity
They preach security
But mastermind insecurity

An incorrigible thief
That robs us of our integrity
Cart away our conscience
Defraud us of our unity
Loot our treasury
Deny us of our freedom
Pauperise the masses
Rob our leaders of their broad-minds
And replace it with myopic ones

Song of the Palm Tree

Song of The Palm Tree

The palm tree at the beach
Blossoms by enjoying the water
Supplied by the sea
Its wing - like fronds dances
To the rhythm of music
Played by the breeze
While it hopes to reach the sky

La-Di-Da Land

La-di-da land

In la-di-da land
The style is grand

The people are presumptuous
And their spending ostentatious

Their language is grandiloquent
But their thinking faculty is somnoluent

There, the smallest animal is elephant
And their look is elegant

The people love conspicuous consumption
And at all times, they crave for sweet sensation

Nostalgia

Nostalgia

The moment I was here
I got the handshakes of kings
I got the hugs of queens
The moment I was here
I received a tap on my back
From those ahead of me in intellectualism

The moment I was here
I got the doses of wisdom
Necessary to climb the ladder of success
The moment I was here
I was told the secrets of success
I was imbibed with the spirit of resilience

The moment I was here
I shared jokes with friends and colleagues
Laughing and smiling momentarily
I rubbed minds with future leaders
Discussing the future of our domicile

Book

Book

Book, a limitless source of knowledge
A companion to its lover
Through it we become intelligent
From it we acquire ageless wisdom
It can turn a know-nothing into a genius
It's turned a dullard into a great surgeon

Book make us explore our world
At the comfort of our home
It boosts self-awareness
It emancipates
It gives power to an individual
And greatness to a nation

Book accelerates development
And fast-track civilisation
It unravels mysteries
And debunks superstitions
Through it we become aware
Of our own history

Book enculturates
Book motivates
It makes us see farther
Than we can ever imagine
From it we gain years of experience
Within a short time frame

Book opens our eyes
To what others cannot see
It accompanies us in the journey
To the land of self-discovery
Book is an antidote for ignorance
And a cure for barbarism

Mis - Leaders

Mis-leaders

The deciders of fate
In whom many have faith
Cocooned in the Ivory tower
Wielding unlimited power
They schooled oversea
But here looting is what they oversee
Their horizon is broad
So they take our wealth abroad
They deserve our applause
And they deserve some awards
For they are un-powering the people
And dis-uniting the nation

Beauty In the Heart of Darkness

Beauty in the heart of darkness

Walking in the crowd
Clothed in a shroud
Shouting all aloud
Not minding if it's allowed
Wanting to be proud
Never to be cowed
It's beauty in the heart of darkness
Swimming in the pool of gladness
Who can rid it of its sadness?
Or who can cure it of its madness?
When faced with barrenness
Ever craving for sweet melody
Never praying for a tragedy
Seeking endlessly a remedy
To all forms of malady

Sleep

Sleep, a wonderful gift of nature
That revitalises the body
And invigorates the mind

The silencer of a crying baby
The quieter of a whole town
The tranquilizer of a troubled mind

After the day's hard work
It is the last resort
A natural antidote for headache

A short nap in the day
Can make a huge difference

Rethink

Here are few drops of ink
That may make million think
An ocean of wisdom from which you may drink
Some memories stink
Eyes opened for too long crave for a blink
When you are on any brink
Learn to have a rethink
