Jonathan Mcclean Poem
How did we say it all began my love
In a church with a shot and an unnecessary glove
I was the marksman who caught your eye
I was the boy where you felt your heart lie
We’d sit for hours never whispering a word
Time together went so quickly, silence unheard
We would connect for hours on end
This was a true connection, not pretend
Years on, we left Cape Town for London
Adventure and living together under one sun
Finding each other on our love journey
Navigating the waters that never seemed murky
We got married and then engaged
A different set of rules for the lovers of age
Travelled the world on our foreign invasion
Me, not making every experience an positive occasion
I let you down so many, many times
Pulled you into a world of my temper crimes
This was not the place for you
Destroyed our love uttering more than a word or two
I should have loved you more
I failed you so many times before
I exhausted all my second chances
Now rejecting my all and last advances

Jonathan Mcclean Poem
Sandton girl of practice law,
ocean crystal eyes,
exuberant,
contagious laughter without flaw
whiskey smiles of blissful joy,
alluring nordic visage,
adventurous,
seductive, unapologetically coy
my thoughts of you electrify,
absorbing magnetic energy
benumbed
countless days dreaming go by
my last breath is you,
and my first,
truth,
vulnerability, I now pursue

Jonathan Mcclean Poem
Sound and Vibration is the essence of our being
Our energies, rhythm and beats creating our souls from afar
I hear, feel you deep inside
There is no place that these seismic shifts can hide
I feel from you love and courage, so vibrant
You don’t even know of my existence
This is no fairy tale, nor fiction
But the beginning of an indulgent addiction
Addiction to risk, trust and love
You awakened me to new a new dawn
These are the raw emotions of a battered man
These are the raw emotions only he will understand
Lost
You showed up by photo and name
I took a chance
Soon together for our first dance

Jonathan Mcclean Poem
Reading your thoughts through the words on my screen
You gave me the courage to open up and believe
Your blonde hair and blue eyes led me to the door of your soul
Deeper than you and I could ever eventually know
Something so new yet nostalgia comes through
Patience and Passion very few believe is true
You found me bludgeoned to the ground, innards opened out
I was battered and bruised from one hell of a bout
You came along and gave me hope
Hope for new love without walking that tightrope
Dimension to dimension and life to life
I feel we will connect to the end of time
We found each other in the meaning of our words
Something we could share, in the miles and yards
You could pick me up with just the curve of your smile
You make me feel free, forever and a while

Jonathan Mcclean Poem
Soon there’ll be nothing left
An empty space of memories blowing away in the wind
Going back to and fro
Come what may, you have to let me know
Deep inside I feel betrayed
A hurt that numbs me away
What is it I did wrong
Emotional transgressions that went beyond
We didn’t even really try
A lack of oxygen
Can we revive our brave soul
Now all too much out of our control
We died a slow death
Our complexions turned grey
The care we had bled dry
A love that money couldn’t buy
