Do They Need Love

Why do they do this
Why must they leave
Do they need love
Wearing their heart out on their sleeve
I can't understand
I can't process it right
Do they need love
Seeing their life not so bright
We should ask more questions
We should get more involved
Do they need love
This can all be resolved
Please go to that person
Please go do it right now
Do they need love
Just go help them somehow

Answering God's Call

I stood and watched them
One by one by one
Working ever so lovingly
Until all the work was done
There were parents and adults
Kids of all ages too
All this was for
In memory of you-know-who
They were washing headstones
Using shaving cream, to clean
There were so many of them
And even more in between
Others were raking leaves
Some were cutting brush
There were people everywhere
But, no one was in a rush
Some were planting flowers
Together in several rows
There were wheelbarrows
Tractors and even track hoes
They were laying bricks
And also walking about
But, the hardest thing was
Brennan, we were without
He wasn't there in person
He listened to God's call
His Eagle Scout project completed
In spirit, he saw it all

These I Have Loved

Summer days
Just thinking of you
Just being alone
Not being blue
Going swimming
In a small lake
Thinking of love
Trying to bake
Watching the sun
Come up and go down
Signing my name
Wearing a gown
Calling my friends
Talking for hours
Making funny faces
Taking hot showers
Looking pretty
To go somewhere
Making strange noises
Letting down my hair
So, these I have loved
And will never forget
The games of love
The people I've met

Be My Irish Rose

Be my Irish rose today
In my heart where shamrocks play
Where St. Patrick used to roam
Come with me, you have a home
Walk with me where life's serene
Is a song of Irish green
Down beside the Irish shore
Dwell with me at Heaven's door
Drink a toast to Irish bliss
Where the leprechauns may kiss
Dance and shout, the world's at play
On this great St. Patrick's day

Getting Ready

Getting ready for a wedding
It's the hardest thing to do
One minute you're feeling happy
The next, you're all unglued
The wedding cake, the flowers
You're trying to find the best
In all the uproar and excitement
You've forgotten your favorite guest
The tuxes and the dresses
What color will they be
The depression of choosing
But, the decision is up to me
The guest book, announcements and
Finding the right address
To having a nice wedding
You will want God to bless
So, yes, I'm not ready
To have this special day
So, make sure you think of me
Whenever you begin to pray

God's Rainbow

Today is like a rainbow
With it's many colors combine
The way it dances across a cloud
As if somehow, trying to rhyme
There is the color blue
That reminds me of the sky
Because God is looking down
With a sparkle in His eye
The color green to me
Is the color that is brand new
Like a babe that's just been born
Love, He brings to me and you
Yellow is the color
Of the sun all a glow
Like our faith should be forever
With our hearts to over flow
So, you see there is a reason
That God created light
To warm our every wish complete
We are perfect in God's sight

In Memory of Brennan

So full of life
With a cute little grin
Every girls dream
Each heart he could win

Riding bikes around
And playing with his dog
He would take him out
For a short little jog

When he was at school
He would talk about cars
He would think about planets
And how to count stars

Boy Scouts was a passion
His LIFE badge he earned
Now that is not something
That is easily learned

His life was cut short
But his memory will stay
Embossed in our hearts
Forever, day after day

So, let us remember
His laughter, his love
His jokes and his pranks
As he watches above

Love Is Like...

Love is like a breeze
It comes and it goes
It's like a plant
You talk to it...it grows
Love is like the rain
Sometimes you fall down
But if you listen to God
You wont feel like a clown
Love is like the Spring
The blossoms start to bloom
It's like finding a house
With just enough room
Love is like a story
It should never end
That's when it's nice
Because it's a never ending friend

Old

Let's try to define the word OLD
It isn't hard to do
One looses their memory
And their hearing goes too

What is it like
To become old at heart
You sure don't need a comb
Because there's nothing to part

When it comes to reading
You do nothing but squint
So they buy you a subscription
To reader's Digest LARGE PRINT

When you step upon the scale
You're scared to look down
For some reason, it seems
There are a few extra pounds

Then there are your children
And now they have some too
It's okay to grow old
Because of the memories of you

Is Everything the Same

I've seen it now
His bedroom, so dear
Everything is the same
No more reflection in the mirror
His cars, his Lego's
Yes, even his bed
Everything is the same
She knows the last words he said
The colors are brilliant
The ceiling's bright stars
Everything is the same
So much pain with the scars
His clothes, his hammock
And, yes his Boy Scout shirt
Everything is the same
Why must all our hearts hurt
Let's try to remember
Hold a memory in your heart
Everything is the same
Except we know we're apart
So love and honor him
Show someone you care
Everything is the same
And always say a short prayer
