Mothers and Daughters

moody and blue
whatever became of you
somedays i can't even
remember
that i know you

how we used to
laugh and play
holding hands
throughout
most of our yesterdays

your dreams
were splashes of sunshine
pillars of hope
creating
visions of imaginary time

now, your reality
shivers with fear
you push me away
mindless
of my bitter tears

mothers and daughters
like forces of electricity
they unite then divide
magnetism
streams of love and malicity

without warning
you jolt our being
creating chaos
generating
sorrow without any meaning

lashing out
you yell and stare
spilling your anger
negating
the urgency to care

like a tornado
with a bitter torment
you swirl us around
enhancing
your apathy and contempt

finally, caressing moments
balance the injuries and the pain
we hold on and hug one anothet
yearning
for our love to forever be the same

Footprints In the Sand

the breeze is stronger now
the waves speak with passion
the mist in the air smells of autumn
our prominent imbedded footprints
anointed along the crystal sand
must ultimately come to an end

looking back to capture our etchings
we remember the fruits of our labor
caressed in the arms of the wind
every grain of our step
is being mixed and broken
where do we go from here?

standing there
we listen to the quiet
in between the breeze
we look up towards the multicolored sky
we remember the heat of the sun
the rapture of our journey

as our thoughts set to gather the harvest
we remember the seeds of growth
how each print was molded in the sand
we recognize what we attained
how we conquered
how we finally survived

now together with the wind
we trace our footprints
paint them across the moon and the sky
with the sounds of our breath
we acknowledge this astonishing view
thanking God we are alive

Creating Our Pilgrimage

the earth turns
our journey begins
crying out
our breath speaks
pushing through
high and low tide
we begin our pilgrimage
holding hands
with the sun the moon and the stars
we create our life and our death

moment by moment
life reveals itself
childhood innocence peels away
standing there naked and vulnerable
accepting the inevitable
we fulfill our dreams
we experience pain
we listen to our hearts
creating an energy
that is simply divine

the journey continues
we transfer our weight
from one foot to another
we press into the earth
creating our imprints
we multiply our steps
exploring new territory
we gather strength
gaining wisdom
from all our endeavors

with time
our feet no linger
burn or blister
our steps are more graceful
somewhat lighter
we feel the earth
in between our toes
resting within the spaces
we place our prints
with a gentle ease

finally motionless
our reflected imprints
paint our pattern
across the open sky
with divine radiance
the rainbow holds our tired hands
lifting our weary feet
gracefully the power of the almighty
pulls the energy of our being
forever to the other side

How Will It End?

will i smile
with a sigh of relief
will the imprints of my footsteps
remain on this earthly ground
will the souls
that i left behind
be nourished by my paterns
the left-over debris
the pieces of grace
that i gently bequeath
beneath my feet

will they forget to remember
my compassion
my love
my strength
how the tides
running across my chest
were my billions of tears
that rippled with
their sorrow
their anquish
their joy

will they remember to forget
the dark clouds
with gray mist
that sometimes saturated my soul
will their wounds heal
from my passing energy
knowing
that my abiding love
will transcend
deep into their hearts
like heat from the eternal sun

finally
will it end where it began
in our nakedness
with no boundaries to fight
translucent light
our mortality lifted
into the thrones of enlightenment
infinite beings
echoes vibrating
all speaking
the same voice

Can You Hear Me Up There Today?

can you hear me
up there today
away in eternity
i hope you are proud of me
so many years between us now
i can't remember
the sound of your voice
or whatever you said
without your photoraph
your image is misty
suddenly our time together
disappeared unannounced
it came to an end

sometimes i think about
why it had to
turn out this way
you up there
me down here
your departed soul
left my childhood shattered
i kept looking for you everywhere
some people i met
reminded me of you
their unspoken manner
made me feel safe
oh how i missed you

other times i wondered
what life would be like
id you were here by my side
without the nearness of you
i stumbled and fell
searching for the missing pieces
to recitify my mistakes
i yearned for a chance
to do what mothers and daughters do
as my children grew
i counted the moments lost
precious time of love
that only grandmothers could fill

now on in years
wrapped in the arms of wisdom
i remiknese upon my life
discerning all the numerous tears
with a peaceful contenance
i can finally comprehend
that within all my darkest hours
the echo of your love from above
came in loud and clear
your voice was my intuition
"do not stray my dear i am here"
can you hear me up there today
i hope you are proud of me

Each Time We Breath

it's all new again
our collective thoughts
our passionate wishes
every pulsating beat of our heart
what was no longer is
the script is fresh
we are right here
each time we breathe

the sun shines
the moon miraculously appears
like pieces of fine dust
we absorb the universe
with abundant blessings from God
we touch the fruits as well as the thorns
dispersing our incredible energy
each time we breath

with one foot in front of the other
we continue our journey
holding unto the virtue of trust
we wait patiently
for our children to grow
for the war to end
for a loved one to die
each time we breathe

honoring each fleeting moment
we open our hearts
with our enduring presence
we show up we listen
we laugh we cry
with our genuine allegiance
we feel the extraordinary moments
each time we breathe

Matters of the Heart

as the waves crash
up against the chisled rocks
their echoing sounds resonate
the bruises of a battered heart
we find peace
within the chanting messsage
the whispers soothe
to heal our soul
listening to the matters of the heart

as the world outside
bellows with agony and pain
here we release our tears
into the depths of the sea
like the ripples in the ocean waters
our wounds bleed
seeking solace
our being unites with the divine
a timeless ritual
to comfort the mattersof the heart

as we search for strength
the glow of the sun
leads us to calm waters
united with rhythm of nature
we rest in tranquility
holding unto the hands of wisdom
our wounds are medicated
resting in peaceful waters
we are back home
touching the matters of the heart
