Lindy Miller Poem
Ah Microsoft Word you tempt me
As I lay across my keyboard wrapped
In a red wine haze
My fingers lingering over the letters
Caressing the ‘L’ for ‘Love’
You speak to me silently
Tantalise me
Trip me up why don’t you?
Trick me into spelling out a line
Which will come back in later times
To haunt me
Red wine words bleeding soft across your page
Dripping slowly down the screen
Drip
Drip
Drip
Your ever seeing eye
Seeing me
Seeing me
Like nobody else
Hearing my thoughts
Like nobody else
Bringing me the world
Here, in my fashionable room
Here, in this cold grey city
The rain drips down my window pane
Again
Again
Again
Like the blood red wine
Relentlessly scalding me
Scolding me
Hold me
Hold me
Holding me in your unblinking gaze
The rabbit caught in the headlights
Standing, bedazzled
Not knowing which way to run
So just standing, standing, standing.
There are warm memories melting through my
Red wine haze
Lucky days
Indian days and lazy days
And loves won and lost
And life goes on running in rivers
Of Red wine.
Ah Microsoft Word you tempt me…………………….

Lindy Miller Poem
All those pictures you drew with bright pastels on black paper
Peacock tails and phallic flowers upward rising
Into swirling mists of yellow and orange
Licked below by fire
You hid the ugliness beneath vivid strokes of purple and blue
You scored the paper with knives of red blood bleeding paint
Across the pretty shapes
When he walked out of the room
And nobody was watching
You plunged the crayon hard through the page, breaking it
You cried hot tears rushing down your cheeks burning your face
Scorching onto the paper
Melting in with red and yellow and blue
Faster your hand raced across the sweet images
Desecrating them and showing the real you
We know you know!! We know it was you, all this time
You hid beneath masks, your peacock eyes your Chinese masks
And hats and wild walls of crimson
It was you
It was you
It was you!!
You didn’t build those crazy walls to keep them out
You built them to save them from you and your anger
Your jealousy your rage your black heart
You are the black beast
You are the black cat creeping round the bed
You are the blurred shadows in the darkness scaring yourself in the night
You are the fast heart beat
You are the antagonist
The martyr
The manipulator
The liar
The thief
The cheat
It was you, all along
It was you.
I turned the light off that night, for the first time
I lay in bed and looked out of the window, I saw a thousand stars
I breathed in deeply while soft ballads played on the stereo
I imagined the sea washing cool over my feet, I breathed in
The sea spray, the seaweed, the drift wood
I slept, after so long, so many sleepless nights hiding from the moon
I slept
I slept
My dreams were kind to me
It was the first night
It was the best night

Lindy Miller Poem
A forbidding brick facade
Fractured eyes of multicolored glass
Somber, with no inner light
Rose to a steeple that
Gouged the sky and cast
A hard shadow
Across the blacktop.
The burning sky made radiant the alley
And a furnace glow filled the expedition
Flushed with a fiery reflection of the
Smoldering sun
His face appeared fierce, a golden eyeshine
Gilded his stare
His soft voice was the tender truth of him
‘Everything I have is yours’
I remained lost in the forest of this new
Reality
Through the streaming crimson light,
Through soft dusky shadows fast hardening
Toward night
Caught in cross tides of emotions
Sinking slowly to a stillness
In that instant a bird flew up
Thrashing its wings
Startling me
From my dreamlike perceptions
I looked for the answer
Or an equivalent distraction
In the rouge light,
The mordant shadows
Only the thinnest wound of the fallen day
Bled along the far horizon
The sky still dark
The moon swimming in the sea
Some secret savage splinter of his nature
Long festering, now flamed to full infection
‘I passed that line years ago’ I said
‘For me there’s no going back’
