Danielle Brooks Poem
Missing You
Missing you what I’ll continue to do,
Nothing I say will make anything change,
Without you I will maintain being blue,
Depression will come; my life rearranged,
My infatuation will never fade,
My love for you will continue to grow,
Moving on I won’t but you’re still afraid,
Each day my soul will become more hollow,
You know that leaving will make my heartbreak,
You can’t say goodbye we’ll both be crying,
I hope you leave something a small keepsake,
While inside I will slowly be dying,
You leaving I wish not to even see,
In my future I want a you and me.

Danielle Brooks Poem
It seems like someone's always dying;
and the tears start rolling down our faces.
It's either suicide or homicide;
it is inevitably deceiving.
Some people would rather be dead than alive;
so they take their life and we all cry.
We have been exposed to funerals;
the closer we are the sadder it is.
At least they're not in pain, but what about mine?
They have no pain, how does mine go away?
It sounds kind of selfish all this young strife.
This feeling of anhedonia comes;
turning to drugs is the worst way to go.
Xanax might help, guess I'll meet you there soon.

Danielle Brooks Poem
To my sisters who will never realize how much I love them,
Who I hope will never have to know the world hates them-
Because their skin is caramel.
To my sisters who look up at me with eyes that sparkle like diamonds,
Whose innocence is bliss beyond compare,
But will soon not be, like a gazelle attacked by a lion.
To my sisters who are beautiful like a summer sunset,
And I who will make sure they know and never forget,
You are beautiful because your skin is caramel.

Danielle Brooks Poem
As Slim Thug said, "Ain't no such thing as friends
Only associates," and there isn't.
Everyone's too fake for that stuff.
Only associates that's too common
That is why we have best friends the closest
And pretend they're so much better than the others.
When in all actuality they're not
They just seem to be the safest option.
While fighting with them you realize something
They aren't the safest option at all
The safest and only option is you.
You are the only person you can trust.
And if you tell only yourself to blame.
Because in a game called life.
There are people who will backstab you-fake.
They will pretend to be so trustworthy
But when something comes up and you are fighting.
All your secrets are out and so are theirs
Retaliation-wow I'm so scared.
Associates-Yes, Friends-No, Slim Thug- Truth.
If not me then who else is here to know?
I fought my best friend went to DAEP
She was fake and "friends" with me the next day
And when we got out she hated me.
We argued some more I almost fought again.
My teachers were disappointed in me;
I was the bigger man but we were still cool.
I was the fool and got hurt- Backstabbed
"No such thing as friends only associates."

Danielle Brooks Poem
I'm so tired of all of this,
Y'all constantly have something to say.
It gets on my nerves,
Mind your business;
I'll have nothing to say.
You say something smart,
I say something back, and nothing's okay.
It's your fault you blame it on me;
and I start to say,
"You should have stayed out of my business and I would have nothing to say.
I'm so tired of all of this you can just stay away.
You're constantly messing with me
And you always in my business.
And if it doesn't end we're gonna have some business.
I ain't gonna tell you again you can all try me
Because at the end of the day who's gonna win this you or me?
You know I'm about to win because I'm not going to back down
And if I don't what are you going to do punk me
And push me around?
You should've minded your business
Or I wouldn't have anything to say.
And at the end of the day
I'm not going to go away.
So you have to deal with me,
Because I'm here to stay all of y'all can pull up or shut up
And that's all I've got to say."
