Cordelia

Across the ocean and clear blue sky
For reason, what purpose I kept wondering why?
Dear Lord thou knowest is this the right choice
Comforted and strengthed by the still small voice

I saw her that day my heart did pound
God's will in the Midwest at last I had found
The maker more perfect than a human scout
His ways and purpose past finding out

Dear love in sweet tones I call out to thee
In trembling I wonder will she go with me?
Together to dwell in sweet harmony
Held fast by God's hands in holy matrimony

Gabriel's Cry

I heard the voice of an angel cry aloud
Not in sweet tones that fill heaven's clouds
Within the habitation of God's ark
Christ dethroned from a carved bark.

Why criest thou o might one?
See what Christ's words declared had done
Men with mirth and merriment rejoice
Given great and many a choice.

Ah, the messenger, the messenger, Christ he shrouded
With gesture and language heavens message he clouded
Flesh revealed and spirit hidden
The sons of men still bed ridden.

King divine and Lord of glory
Lisps the man in entertaining story
Christ unpreached his word unsung
Vain babbling comes through unsanctified tongue.

Preach the Word was His command
Repentance, forgiveness heaven's demand
Ashamed said he of the gospel tune
The way, the truth buried under the dune.
