The Importance of Being Analytical

Parenthetical phrases help you read between the lines
S-P-E-L-L it out letter for
L-E-T-T-R.
Nothing to the imagination
Don’t get it? Just look it up
Online, between the lines.
Read the Spark Notes, they’re almost as well written

Write nonsense, discuss complex
ideas and trivia.
I knew that! But I forgot it back when
Imagination ran away with the spoon
instead of me! I was so traumatized, I couldn’t handle it,
So I covered my eye with hair and turned to a poetry book
Full of stories of my suicides and how terrible my
Middle class suburban life has been!
Can’t you see the depression? It’s sewn into the seems of
my pants that are about the tear!

Driven mad by gibberish tears.
meaningless juxtapositions for the sake of
contradiction. I think therefore I’m confused.
Just tell me what it means so I can go
Back to being oblivious! Just accept it,
because you refuse to comprehend it.

Stars

Stars of fire
watch them crash
watch them burn into,
stars of ash.

When you wish upon a Star,
Wishes only go so far,
When you wish upon a Star,
your dreams are
fuel,
Burning in the distant rays,
Star of wonder
you amaze
us all.
But what happens when you fall?
Ashes to ashes,
dust to dust,
Rapidly you burn,
Sooner you combust.

Star so far
you feel so near
from that far away
can you hear
that you are missed
and remembered today
the Stars of loss
Could never betray.

Stars of fire
watch them crash
watch them burn into,
Stars of ash.

After the fire,
all that remains,
is the light you have sent,
that could not sustain.
Years after your gone,
You light the night sky,
dreams turn to nightmares.
We never said goodbye.

Friday Night Frenzy

Friday night frenzy,
are you ready to play?
time to drown the old worries away,
with good old grey mother goose.

Walk down the stairs in your high-heeled high-maintenance ways
Clink Clank
cLiNk ClAnK.
Don’t trip!
You might chip a nail and
expose what your cosmetics are trying to conceal.
As if the depth of you makeup is actually equivalent to the depth of your soul.

Friday night frenzy,
lets have a blast!
black-outs can happen,
but the hang over will last.
friday nights fizzle, sizzle and pass.
Saturday morning delirium is a blindfolded shot glass

I Wrote Something Once

I wrote something once
It was deep and meaningful
And I threw it away
Because that's what I do

It was a mistake
But these mistakes
Keep repeating
Repeating
Repeating
Until I can't anymore

I wrote something once
It was deep and meaningful
But I lost it
Because that's what I do

It wasn't a mistake
But these mistakes
Keep repeating
Repeating
Because I won't anymore

I had something once
But these mistakes
Keep
Repeating
Until I won't let them
Anymore

Tightrope

Walk on a tight rope
never look down
safety net security
reckless responsibility.

Never watching steps,
swaying side to side,
dropping to the floor,
Picked up, ready for more.

Practice makes perfect
practice as you preform
Practice without fear,
performance of the year.

Until the circumstances
Change.

I Collect

I collect
Something when we meet,
Knowing that these memories
Will fade
As so many already have.

Sometimes,
Fragile
Delicate.
Others,
Stories told
And retold.

But always questions.

This Is a Poem About

This is a poem about life
You live and you learn
And unlearn
And start over
Because mistakes are inevitable.

This is a poem about love
Because love will make you
And break you
And shake you to your core.
Then you love and you leave
Or they leave
Or they die
Because death is inevitable.

This is a poem about you
Because you will find strength
And you will feel pain.

But will you love the difference?

Vanity

Watching me
watching you
starstruck lovers through and through,
I catch a glimpse
my heart leaps,
your perfection runs so deep
How could I look away?
The rest of the world starts to decay
but my love for my love will never shake
as long as my love, my mirror, doesn’t break.
