Kaaviya Baskaran Poem
A silent pillar of strength,
I'm lucky to have you as sister,
But I'm gifted to be your sister!!

Kaaviya Baskaran Poem
Had I been a phone,
I would have been loved even more
By my mom and dad.

Kaaviya Baskaran Poem
The sky was lit by blinding light
But, not sunlight
The panorama was painted with darting pellets
But, not of rain rivulets
The ground quivering under flitting feet
But, not earthquake
The horizon hung with billowing smoke
But, not pillows of fluffy clouds
The constant bombing sounds bombarded my ears
But, not fireworks
As I looped in my shoestrings and gathered my rifle
My eyes yearned for an eyeful of that rodent-bitten snapshot
Stifling a sob that pained my heart,
Knowing I kept my promise for the nation before I depart...

Kaaviya Baskaran Poem
What has life in store?
Milk on bed and milk when dead.
Why sulk all along?
P.S.This poem is based on the Hindu customs of burial. Attending a funeral recently taught me this very essence of Life.

Kaaviya Baskaran Poem
You relish the polished white rice,
But how many farmers' deaths behind it lies.
You relish the freedom on our streets,
But how many soldiers sacrifice their lives to reap these.
You relish the freebies offered during pre-election,
But how many politicians resort to "in-resort" operations.
You relish the skyscrapers and high-rise buildings,
But how many wildlife's habitats are shrinking.
You relish the amenities sold at lower prices,
But how many adulterants have effected a major health crisis.
Featured news clouds people's vision,
Shrouding the underlying notion.
Read between the lines,
Understand the "unuttered".

Kaaviya Baskaran Poem
Listening to songs I never loved,
Wearing clothes I never cherished,
Adorning a cloak that never suits me,
Trying hard to accept that this is the new 'ME',
As time flew,
As I shed my old leaves and gained new,
I realised that this was never the 'ME'
That I wished to see.
Revolving around momentous bliss
Whirling around proclaimed pleasures
Haunted by fears of social rejection,
Coerced me to abide by falsehood, but not for long.
The world in my view...
Many bodies with single voice,
Not because of unison, but because of subjugation,
Fear to raise views, fear to express opinions.
Let go to gain more,
Let go of falsehood to gain brotherhood
Let go of fear to gain bright years
Live your life, not someone else's...

Kaaviya Baskaran Poem
The waft of petrichor filling nostrils
The drizzle sending a cold chill
Toddlers with paper boats rushing towards puddles
Declaration of holiday makes children chuckle
Office-goers ambling with umbrellas
Octagenarians reminiscing with novellas
Farmers look unto rain as God's gift
Ombrophobians flee in a jiff
Ample RAIN causes GAIN!
Surplus RAIN causes PAIN!

Kaaviya Baskaran Poem
Darkness
A locus for expression of tears
Muffled thoughts grow vociferous
Suppressed emotions arise uprighteous
Societal demands and self interests lock horns
only to be put to rest before dawn

Kaaviya Baskaran Poem
Bright sun, puffy clouds , pinky fluffy candy floss,
Rolling on the fields lined with grassy, grassy green moss.

Kaaviya Baskaran Poem
Eyes saw, Nose smelt
Ears heard, Skin felt
Tongue tasted
All were elated
Eyes see, Nose smells
Ears hear, Skin feels
Tongue tastes
All the Senses judge
and the Mind prejudges
All went off charge
