Jessica Ortiz Poem
We were joined before we met, each on our own path. Separately we faced challenges that changed us little by little. As we changed in our separate lives we were becoming what we each needed when our lives intercepted. Inevitably, we became linked in our journey. Our path in life merged into one and from that point forward we were meant to travel together. We have helped each other over obstacles and trudged up mountains together. We often take our reprieve to enjoy the view that we have earned before we set off to continue our adventure. Each challenge strengthens us as does the reward.
The reward, perhaps the greatest, is the knowing. We have come to know each other without words. Fore, words play little in the knowing of the ones we love. It’s the building of simple actions and efforts that help us to continue to grow and to know… it’s the kiss on the top of the head, the hot cup of coffee that awaits, the patient listening of one’s day. These are the actions of love. These are but a small glimpse of how we know so much without words. Through all of our time together I have come to know so much of you, yet there is still so much to learn. However, I know you. I know the you that the world does not get to know. I know, therefore, I love.
