Butterfly

The petals swayed in the wind
A butterfly with a purpose of direction landed
Flapping his wings
At the petals dripping with nectar
He suckled the dews
Without paying any dues
And flew away.

Gift

The rich are poor in giving
As the poor are rich in receiving
Pittance charity drips into their hold
Dearth of spices pounds
In the mortar of gifts
Unable to fill their palms.
Fingers more eager to receive
Meet the reluctant elbows to stretch
In a triangle
Which begets all
The artful few stay at the piercing top
And the teeming crowd languishing
At the broad base
This gloomy glom makes the triangle stand.

Scarecrow

When I'm gone and I'm back
If it's true
Do not put me in the land
Of our hollow heroes.
Reinvent me;
Pass me through a lab no matter how crude
To become an inventor
Take me through the the furnace of war
Refine me into a real general.
Let me go through the sprawling fields
Where birds twirp to fill
An abundance of the earth,
Make me a scarecrow;
A whistleblower in the land
Not a pawn on the table of our heroes.
