I remember a time when I was much smaller,
I remember you having more hair and to me were much taller...
I remember you teaching me how to ride a bike
I remember days at the park and flying a kite
I remember climbing mountains and cliffs out to sea,
I remember times it was just you and me
I remember finding quartz and keeping it for years
I remember me crying and you drying my tears
I remember adventures with big boats and subs
I remember you being there for air cadets and cubs
I remember times that I have driven you mad
I will always remember, I love you dad x

Monster
When you hurt the one you love, a monster is born...
A bright red fluffy thing with a mahoosive horn...
3 eyes and a mouth, a nose not in sight
a monster to cause heart ache not to cause fright...
It sets up house, just under the heart
it plays in its garden and waters the plants...
It grows all the doubts that you have in your head
and then feeds off your emotions and your feelings of dread
The monster is like a kid and just wants to play
it loves to pull on your heart strings and ruin your day
it loves to scoff all your thoughts down and wash them away

You have noticed a change in your partner as of late
he is equipped with a shield and armour of plate
He gives love and reassurance umpteen times a day
he is here to love you and scare the monster away
The monster is a fighter and wont give up,
it barricades itself in its house and keeps the door shut
It whispers through its letterbox all things you dont want to hear
still trying to feed of your weakness and fear
Your partner keeps loving and is winning the war
I love you more than anything, you are the one I adore
I promise not to lie nor hurt you again
I promise to be there forever and to be your best friend
The monster is growing tired and curls up to sleep
but the garden is still growing, the roots are dug deep
I am equipped for all manner of tasks
and will go above and beyond no matter your asks
I will keep fighting forever and a day
because
I LOVE YOU IN EVERY WAY!!
