Ladder of Success

LADDER OF SUCCESS
Free Verse

1001 steps to reach the apex
You need courage and strength
Along the way there are trials and tests
Be careful, watch every step you make.

Ask the help and guidance of God
Courage and conviction to you He'll provide
Ask Him to hold your hands so tight
Going up is not easy, slippery and too steep

From the first step there are challenges
Overcome it with hope and faith
Never lose your courage and fortitude
Aim high till you reach the pinnacle of success.

Don't rest on your laurels they say
In your journey you're almost half way
Though the road is rough and bumpy
Finish your course with intrepidity and dignity

You are young and beautiful
The future has many good things to offer
Concentrate in your studies
 Finish it with flying colors.

You are the pride of your parents
The crown and glory of the church as well
A good example among the chosen
Someday, you’ll stand before men clapping their hands.

Prodigal Son

PRODIGAL SON

Prodigal son I was
I lived a wayward life
Indeed a promiscuous
A boy with a sinister heart

I didn't respect no one
Nothing to lose, but all to gain
Nor was I scared from anyone
In my young heart it reigned

I lived in the streets
With my friends by my side
I didn't heed to my parents' advise
Nor from the teachers sent by God

In my brood, I was the black sheep
In school, I was the teachers’ antagonist
A bad influence I was branded
To my townspeople, I was bad indeed

I was eighteen when He touched my heart
I was confounded, baffled and dazed
What is this Lord?, I soliloquized
Change! Change! Is what I realized

I prayed to the Lord God
" What should I do my Lord?" I asked
" Be my servant, to me He replied
Then my faith, He concretized and galvanized

I am now teaching the Good Tidings
For men to be saved from impending judgment
From the Lake of Fire on the Day of recompense
That the Kingdom of God they may inherit.

Letty

LETTY

Free Verse

FORTY - SIX years ago when I said, I do
The day, I gave my name to you
With a tearful eyes I made a solemn vow,
To love and take good care of you.

Like a brittle crystal, I’ll take care of you in my heart.
Never to hurt, nor make you cry
I said that vow when our hearts were entwined
In the altar of matrimony- in the presence of God.

But sorry my love, indeed, I’m sorry
There were times - my promises were shuttered apart
Again and again, my blunders you've forgiven,
You said: you deserve another chance.

Why am I so weak?
Why am I so fragile?
Why is my heart so feeble?
I’m sorry for a love so fiddle.

Now that we are in our twilight years,
With my cane in my quivering/shriveled hands,
Let me whisper in your ears my dear
I will never " do it again ".

With our three kids and eight lovely grand kids,
That surround us in our rocking chair,
In my heart I whisper a silent prayer,
'T i l death do us part my dear.

Happy 46th Wedding Anniversary
I LOVE YOU, I HONESTLY LOVE YOU.

Josebeth

JOSEBETH
Free Verse

Jocund daughter and sister you are
Pride and joy of your loved-ones
Glory of the Church, a lady of wisdom
A bright star that gives light to the man you love.

Obedient and humble to the Church Administration
Always gives priority to her duties and obligations
God is number One in her heart of hearts
A quality and virtue worthy to be admired.

Saccharine smile that tickles his soul
Mesmerized and enthralled his heart to be a dreamy boy
That someday your hearts will be entwined
In the altar of matrimony, in the presence of God.

Everlasting joy and perennial happiness
is what a loving and caring man of God, to Him he ask for
To be with you in sickness or in health
Till death do you part in this world.

Beauty, they say, is in the eyes of the beholder
Your simple beauty indeed strikes his fancy
Whenever he bends his knees and ask for God’s benevolence
He always say: " Father, please to me, give sister Josebeth ".

Eggregious woman with a faithful heart
To a man of God is indeed a heavenly reward
A woman like you, to her husband is a crown and pride
For all his endeavors and sacrifices, a precious rewards.

The capable wife: “ How hard it is to find a capable wife!.
She is worth far more than jewels
Her husband puts his confidence in her
and he will never be poor ".

Harmonious relationship may always inweave you together
Wherever he Church Administration brings you in the future
May you always be a good mother and a good mentor
A good and a humble wife forevermore.

Ernesto

ERNESTO
Acrostic

T.ito, thirty- years ago you left us
with painful hearts and tearful eyes
too young to leave your loved-ones
we mourn on your early demise

I.n the core of your heart and mind
there's hatred and sentiments
there were times you want to shed blood
but you were hindered by reverence of God

T.ito, I still remember when we were young
You accompanied me in visiting my " someone "
You don't want me to be walking alone
untoward incident might happen on my way home

O.bdurate you are in your determination
since we we're young I saw that in your conviction
bringing into your grave that disturbing emotion
letting God help you in your anxiety and apprehension.

T.ito, you're the man who walk the talk
You're a man with a Solomonic wisdom
A paragon and pride of your family
We miss you so much my baby brother

U.ltimate request before you left this life
God will reinstate you in the church of Christ
I sent to the Administration your plea and cry
with God's inspiration, the appeal was granted,
considered done.

" G.o on in praying to the Father
to provide you more courage of conviction
that happen what may in this of world of gloom
We will go on serving Him until the Day of Doom

A.ffter death, life everlasting is waiting
for us in the New Jerusalem in heaven
our sacrifices will never be in vain
we will meet our parents there again.

F.edelity to God is what our parents embed
in our minds and hearts since we were kids
this we brought till we grew up
loving and defending the church against all odds

F.irst and foremost is our relationship with God
poetry writing was your " first love "
elementary grades when you started " making lines "
that makes the family proud.

J.olly and jocund fellow you are
jovial among friends and loved-ones
university instructor and scholar
Sunday school teacher at one time.

R.elentless and indefatigable in your struggle for education
though you lack material things to pursue your aspiration
believing that education will uplift your condition
and to make your dreams a realization. “

But to me dad, you are number one
In the Hall of Fame.

Birthday Gifts

BIRTHDAY GIFTS
Free Verse

A belated birthday gift
From my son I received
That I could use in my daily activities
Jog, walk and exercise the things I need in my life

A blue jogging suit
And a Lacoste rubber shoes
That makes my whole being more active
Feeling better and younger than others

A nice cap from by younger daughter
And a wrist watch from the older
These small things gave me the vigor
The inspiration and aspiration to live longer

With me walking and jogging
Are the best gifts I ever received
My loving and understanding wife
Which I believe a gift from God

Discretion

DISCRETION
                                        NONET

Discretion - better part of valor
                        Don't rush in making decisions
                        Repentance comes at the end
                             Ask God's inspiration
                               Don’t be too drastic
                                 Need self control
                                      Discipline
                                       of mind
                                         Need.

Jocelyn

JOCELYN
( Acrostic )

Jocelyn, tthe most beautiful sound I’ve ever heard
Sound of music that tickles a man’s heart and soul
Like a star that twinkles in the sky at night
A sweet name that makes one to smile.

Oh! how amiable and adorable you are
a fragrant red rose in the garden of one's heart
Your eyes are so bright that tantalizes one's mind
Your smile makes the world go-round.

Charming replica of Venus, the goddess of beauty
In the heart of the man who loves you truly
Poet's inspiration that moves his imagination to play
And ask the birds how to tweet and fly away.

Erudite, lovely and honest woman
An ideal and sublime lady of wisdom
Making plans and blue prints for a dwelling place
Where her kids will someday run and play.

Loyalty and sincerity are good virtues to possess
These, let it reign in your heart
 Disseminate to the younger ones
Embed in their mind the Solomonic wisdom.

Yes, love is a many splendored thing
But your heart to only one man
The sanctity of love never to blaspheme
  Respect, cherish and never disdain.

Natty, and humility, are your qualities to treasure
A glory and crown to be kept forevermore
You’re a woman of dignity, integrity and decency
A woman of rectitude and probity.
