A Teacher's Day

This is my job, changing young minds;
showing them the route to numbers and rhymes,
giving them knowledge of a brand new day,
and how to kindly have their say.
I had no idea where the road would lead
when I was testing to see if she could read.
I can remember way back when
some of the things I thought had to be a sin.
A week into school I am sure I knew her plan,
But I was still on square one saying, "I just don't understand."
I knew my day would be a mess
when she ripped my paper and lost the test,
Yelled at Johnny and calling him a name,
telling Mary the way she looked was a pitfall shame.
What had I done? Is this what I deserve?
An eight year old to wreck my nerves,
And tell me "so" and you ain't my boss."
She was fighting back at any cost.
This child here I was suppose to teach,
but where I was standing she was impossible to reach.
I prayed for the day to quickly end,
for the thoughtsI had I can't defend.
Thinking that there was still a chance,
I turned to see her doing a dirty dance.
My eyes filled with tears and a visible sorrow,
At the frightening thought , that there was always tomorrow.

Retirement

You know time is moving at a rapid pace,
Chasing us all in a life time race.
There are some days you'll made a sigh,
And that's a fact you shouldn't deny
You work hard to do your best,
To conquer time and pass the tests.
Through the years you'll make some plans,
Always willing to take a stand.
For the things you believe to be true and right,
Are often tested in the darkness of night.
The things that build your self-esteem,
Helped made you wiser it would seem.
Now, in your life you must pause,
Find a new direction, seek a new cause.
Thanks to all who believed in you,
And knew the things you wanted to do.
From the tedious hassle of man made time,
You kept in step with a planned out rhyme.
You will not be saying a hearty goodbye,
And leaving your friend wondering why.
But there is one other thing that you all should know,
That we all must share as our lives grow:
Time is moving at a rapid pace,
Chasing us all in a life time race.

The Peace of Honesty

What peace does man know?
When he chooses not to show
The sweet taste of honesty
In his chosen destiny.
Honesty is the face of content
Forever the weapon of defense,
To guide the restless heart of man,
Frantically shrugging to take a stand.
Wake up sweet honesty!
Roam this land bold and free,
Condeming ignorance on this earth,
Up to now, from the time of birth.
The garment of honesty is my shield,
Leading and protecting until;
Like the golden setting sun
My days work is done!

God Gives It All

Happiness is the completeness of one's self,
     And the completeness is knowing
                 All that is necessary,
               all that is meaningful,
Dealing with all that is old
                   and all that is new.
It is being healthy in mind and body,
Being honestly aware of one's feelings,
                   hopes and dreams...
                   Yes! happiness is being
truly satisfied with what you are and who you are.
                    But unquestionably,
                    It is knowing that God
                           Gives it all!!
