Dance

Open your heart to happiness
Let every pore absorb light
Swim in the joy of the here and now
And cast off the darkness of night
Walk in the summer of sunshine
Fly in the blueness of sky
Know possibilities are boundless
Understand that nothing can die
Step from the shadows of torment
Sing til your throat gets too sore
Smile for as long as the day is
And laugh just a little bit more
Breathe slowly and deeply and listen
Give all your ideas a chance
Let the sun beat down on your goodness
And kick off your shoes and dance

Your Inner Song

Be thankful for each morning's sunrise,
See beauty in nature's reveal,
That beauty is also inside you,
Open up and see how you feel,
Let kindness be part of your being,
Make someone else smile everyday,
Even if darkness surrounds them,
Your compassion will light up their way,
Show grace and humility always,
Be patient and loyal and true,
Don't try to be all to the many,
But always be you to the few,
Stand firm at times of challenge,
Maintain your wisdom and poise,
Be attuned to nature's rhythm,
Amid life's trials and noise,
Be proud of the love you are giving,
Spread it equal with strangers and kin,
Your resolve will sometimes be tested,
But your strength will come from within,
Don't dwell on mistakes or regrets now,
Or dread what tomorrow might bring,
Let this moment be all that consumes you,
And may the world hear your inner voice sing.

The Horse Affair

“Oh! That hurt!” I tried to duck as a vase smashed on my head,

“You rat!” my wife screamed out at me, her face was very red,

“How could you be unfaithful?” she raged at me again,

“I’ve found this piece of paper; so Sally is her name?”

“Now darling hear me out,” I said, “you’ve reached the wrong conclusion!

I can set your mind at rest; there is no real confusion,

Sally is a horse I backed; she was highly recommended,

A filly of the highest breed she’s really rather splendid.”

“Oh what relief” said wife to me “I’m sorry how I acted,

I doubted you, I’m so ashamed, I rather over reacted,”

“No worries” I said with a saintly smile “the incident’s forgotten”

(Even though my head did ache and I felt dazed and rotten),

So I sat down and rested and soon fell fast asleep,

Until that is another blow stirred my slumber deep,

“Ouch!” screamed I, my head recoiled from a frying pan I think,

My wife was like a demon, was she the worse for drink?

“What have I done, why hit me again?” I shouted with a groan,

“Because you need to wake up - your horse is on the phone!”
