Sometimes, the 5 Glasses

1st glass...

sometimes
       I need you
            more than
                other times
                   and sometimes
                      sleep offers
                          little respite
                      as my soul
                   disappears into smoke
                and sometimes
             I drink better
        when I write...

2nd glass

sometimes
       I am content
            to rest my head
               upon your breast
                  tho' I must admit
                  I daydream
              about the rest
            and that is why
        my 2nd glass
always tastes best...

3rd glass...

sometimes
         tomorrow shines
                thru your
                      laughing eyes
                           yet, sometimes
                                I just don't know
                                         for sometimes
                                              I fear we've gone
                                 as far as this life
                           will let us go
                       and that is why
                 my 3rd glass
          is always
swallowed slow...

4th glass...

sometimes
      I accept loves' test
             a tempest of
                  joy and pain
                        yet sometimes
                             I could stand naked
                             in freezing rain
                         clinch my fist skyward
                  and swear in vain
              which is why
      my 4th glass
tastes of bitter grain...

5th glass...

sometimes
   I feel it would be
        best for thee
                if I could simply
                         set you free
                                free from my
                                          darker side
                                          the side you
                                          failed to see
                                that enchanted eve
                             you offered your
                         only heart to me
                 and sometimes
         I feel it would be
 a blessing for me
to have my eyes go dark
                 when you sometimes
                          look at me
                               and your eyes
                                    clearly portray
                                      there are parting words
                                          you wish to say
                                          and that is when
                                   my 5th glass
                               sets my demons free
                          free to punish thee
                  for having loved
         the likes of me.
     Forgive me angel. Forgive me.
Just sometimes.

The Lovers Dance

drugged by the scent of her lure
     rapture erupted with one glance
        a beguiling symphonic aria
           ignited their erotic dance...

           a raging fire spawned within
        kindling naked passion;
     two spirits flamed as one
in unbridled, fevered fashion...

consumed by torrid pleasure
     their famished flesh was fused
         while, as they achieved Crescendo,
             the gods looked on, amused.

Anguish of the Soul

From her weeping soul
she whispers longingly
enticing this ageless spirit
which once surrendered her...

The quiet sighs she weaves
upon each velvet day
cause me to forever mourn
the heart I have betrayed...

I sail upon seas of wind
kissing her golden hair
oh, if only I could stream
a never ending dream
for her and I to share...

And if I could scheme
such a daring dream
she would be adorned
in radiant, flowing light
to blind the howling demon
who stabs me with scorn...

But, if I could so dream
would she feel me there?
would she come to know
she has forever been
the music to my prayer?...

Ah, but now she calmly sleeps
desires now are ripe to reap
I shall share her every breath
as this soul weds hers so deep
to claim her heart as mine,
mine alone to hold and keep!

Deep Dreams- As My Infant Daughter Sleeps

Deep dreams angel
and remember as you rest
come dawn's glow
a new day's gifted you.

A recurring wonder
born of love
a daily miracle
blessed from above.

And no matter
how troubled your ride
the giver of days
shall always provide.

This,
even the sparrows know.

Sunrise Duet

"Good morning my heart
    you must be waking
       for the Sun shines bright
          through my window
             and my soul is shaking."

"No mi vida, I still sleep
           but I'm sending the Sun
         as I dream of you
       to assure you of
     the warmth of my love...

"And know it shall never shine
as bright as the fires that
  blaze within my heart
for you."

Succubus

She brings torrents of rhapsody
drowning you in her rousing sea
enslaved within her crimson mist
her Cobra kiss you cannot resist...

enraptured by her lurid lies
the fervor in her midnight eyes
send tremors to your very core
as you surrender to her lore...

with loving hands stroking your face
she consumes you with her embrace
when, with a smile, begins to weep
as she slowly stabs you...Stabs you deep!

Post Seduction Hangover

Bewitching was she
                             with enticing eyes
she inflamed my passion
                             with sugar sweet lies

she breast fed me love
                             with warmth of love
then conquered my soul
                             one lifetime ago...

                             the allure of her smile
                                 made sinning exciting
tho' the spell of her kiss
                                            made dying inviting.

One Stolen Moment

My yearnings took me back
back to one moment
forever frozen in time
like a photograph
in my mind.
One moment when
snowflakes fell
kissing her angelic smile
by the light of a
pale, pale moon...

How their kisses glistened
upon her blushing face
as they fervently clung
to her hair so fair
seemingly taunting my
hesitation to go
where only they would dare...

Suddenly impassioned
I embraced her warm beauty
and kissed her angelic smile
by the light of that
pale, pale moon
as those snowflakes
now incensed
stormed around us
in their jealous flurry.

Shoes

This is not my
preferred style
have disliked it
since my youth
and can bet
I always will.
But I'll live with it
for this bit
tho' I fear I'm
feeling ill...

SHOES.

Ever help a woman
choose a pair
to wear?
Ever notice
her feet in them?

You know you
want to stare
you love their
sensuality
don't goddamn
lie to me!

She wore a pair
of shoes
they fit her
secret self
the last time we
shared a dance
the last time we
dared to chance.

Oh, she'd kick
them off you know
was how she liked
to waltz
could not help
but kiss her
kiss her as
she'd flow.

But, like every
time before,
the dance would
end too soon
time to set her free
time to dance no more.

No, this is not
my natural style
and can state it
never will.
My best lines
were surely written
by candle light
and quill!

Dear Mom

I love you
for you're
the reason
I've a place
in this race.
The reason I
feel life breathe,
love, laugh
and yes,
even grieve.
But, dear mom,
please don't
lecture me
on how to be
a son
because, you see,
you've never
been one
let alone
an only son!

                    With love. Sincerely,
                            Your son. ('68)
