Windows of My Mind

I imagine that inside my mind
Are cells made out of glass
And trapped inside these tiny cells
Are moments of my past

And now and then they shatter
To cause me grief and pain
And bleed into my consciousness
To take me back again

The shards of glass are stabbing
Causing me great pain
So I retreat inside of me
To build them once again

Behind each tiny cell I see
Hands banging to get out
I try to stop the damage
By stifling a shout

No matter what I try to do
I cannot make it cease
The thumping and the hammering
Just will not give me peace

So yet another bleed begins
Another spear of pain
I'm taken back to times gone by
And relive it again.

Then as the mist starts rising
And the glass begins to clear
My pounding heart can rest again
And slowly ease my fear

Some people they have triggers
And know what breaks their glass
They take avoidance if they can
But not for me alas

The windows are so fragile
Can break at any time
So I need to look after
All the windows of my mind. x

Slave

Lies paint your tongue with acid
Burning me up
Bringing me down
To fall like toxic plastic
Tainting every loving feeling... dirty brown

Your eyes don't hide no secrets
They pull me in
Then spit me out
To fill me full with regrets
Knowing every loving moment's... full of doubts

Here I remain... a slave to your attractions
Seeking your affection
It's you I crave
Here I remain... Ignoring gut reactions
Craving satisfaction
I'm just your slave

Your chains of hate may bind me
Don't release me
Won't let me go.
I'm shackled by malignancy
Feeding my addiction is all... I’ll ever know.

Here I remain... a slave to your attractions
Seeking your affection
It's you I crave
Here I remain... Ignoring gut reactions
Craving satisfaction
I'm just your slave

Here I remain... a slave to your attractions
Seeking your affection
It's you I crave
Here I remain... Ignoring gut reactions
Craving satisfaction
I'm just your slave

The Sky Fell Down

The sky fell down
Then crashed around me
My dreams all drowned
Leaving me empty
My blood ran cold
A poisoned river
White pain took hold
My body shivered

The sun was gone
Leaving deep darkness
No dusk or dawn
Unbroken sadness
I stared through eyes
Blinded from sorrow
With silent cries
For lost tomorrows

Until you held me in your arms
That's all it took.... that's all I neeeeeed.....

Ashes to ashes, dust to dust
Give me the strength to live and trust
Find some real answers, a new direction
Hold me closely.... I need some affection.....

Empty inside
Swallowed emotions
I was a shell
Tossed within oceans
Bruised to the core
Edges undefined
Washed up ashore
In body and mind

Until you held me in your ams
That's all it took.... that's all I neeeeeed....

Ashes to ashes, dust to dust
Give me the strength to live and trust
Find some real answers, a new direction
Hold me closely.... I need some affection.....

Reach out to me and hold me tight
Help me to get through one more night
One more night.... just hold me tight
Help me make it through another night

Until you held me in your arms
That's all it took.... that's all I neeeeeed....

Ashes to ashes, dust to dust
Give me the strength to live and trust
Find some real answers, a new direction
Hold me closely.... I need some affection.....

Ashes to ashes, dust to dust
Give me the strength to live and trust
Find some real answers, a new direction
Hold me closely.... I need some affection.....

Standing In the Rain

Standing In The Rain
The rain, the rain, the rain, the rain, the rain

Standing in the rain
Soaked down to my skin
Washing out the pain
Running down my chin
Rain drops chill me out
Bring me back some peace
Clear away my doubt
Make my tensions ease

The rain, the rain, the rain, the rain, the rain
Standing….. in the rain…..
The rain, the rain, the rain, the rain, the rain
Standing in the rain…..

Soaked from head to toe
Feeling free at last
For a walk I go
Rain's now falling fast
On and on I trudge
Soaked and dripping wet
My resolve won't budge
I can’t go home yet

The rain, the rain, the rain, the rain, the rain
Standing….. in the rain…..
The rain, the rain, the rain, the rain, the rain
Standing in the rain…..

Eyes begin to sting
Hurting from the tears
I can’t stop crying
Ran out of ideas
Standing in the rain
Soaked down to my skin
Washing out the pain
Running down my chin

The rain, the rain, the rain, the rain, the rain
Standing….. in the rain…..
The rain, the rain, the rain, the rain, the rain
Standing in the rain…..

Cry of the Wolf

Cry Of The Wolf

In a deep desolate forest in the darkness of the night
A fabulous lone wolf is hunting for his life
His coat is soft and thick and mixed with dark and light
His senses keen and sharp as the blade of a knife

He stalks his prey alone now as he lost his pack in fight
The stillness of the night air pricks his senses keen
He tastes the air and stealthily moves through the night
Silently he stalks carefully he goes unseen

His prey is small and wily an injured lonesome hare
He knows that he can have him if he's wise
He approaches it from down wind so the hare is unaware
And strikes and makes a kill then howls up to the skies

The howl is one of victory of prowess and of gain
He sounds his howl out long and clear precise
He eats his meal so gracefully sated once again
Conscious that the nourishment retains him in his life

Now his appetite is repleted and he can afford a break
He looks up to the moon to give a howl
His existence is precarious friendships he must make
He resumes his lonesome vigilance and walks on with a prowl

In a lonely empty clearing atop a snow drenched hill
He points his nose into the air and howls
He's listening for return calls but there's only silence still
Nothing but the shuffling and hooting of the owls

He journeys onwards through the cold and darkness of the night
Never ceasing seeking seeking his own kind
He'd never back away should a wolf pack want a fight
Self preservation is the only thought in his mind

As the dawn draws closer still and daylight starts to creep
He offers one last howl up to the moon
Still there's no return call and he looks around for sleep
His weary body needs some rest real soon

He lays upon a bed of snow with protection at his back
Gives in to the tiredness and is asleep real soon
And in his dreams his howls are answered by a running pack
And they all stand and howl up to the moon

If I Could Rewind

If only I could rewind and go back in my mind
Seek it out then destroy would I truly enjoy
Would my life now be good like I feel that it should
Or would things just get worse am I blessed am I cursed
Will things settle and go will my happiness grow
Or will things get real bad making me very sad
To rewind in my mind might well make me unkind
Maybe leave it alone and rejoice not condone

Sometimes you're better off where you are
Don'y look back you may go far
Life's a gamble choose your way well
What will happen time will tell

If I rewind my heart would it feel torn apart
Would the heartache it holds disappear or twofold
Would I feel some release maybe panic would cease
Or would things just get worse am I blessed am I cursed
Will I find myself love and then reach on above
Or will my heart still ache through the choices I make
To rewind my heart might well tear me apart
Maybe leave it alone and rejoice not condone

Sometimes you're better off where you are
Don'y look back you may go far
Life's a gamble choose your way well
What will happen time will tell

If I rewind my life would it free me from strife
Would my fears melt away leave me happy today
Would my happiness flow if my memories go
Or would things just get worse am I blessed am I cursed
Will I ever be free to truly know me
Or will life carry on without rhyme or reason
To rewind my life would I not be a wife
Maybe leave it alone and rejoice not condone

Open Your Eyes Look Around You

As you open your eyes in the morning
And struggle to rise to your feet
Keep your eyes opened wide look around you
Discover the beauty you greet

As you look out and cherish the morning
Notice all of the beauty around
All the rays of the sun on your window
And the patterns they throw on the ground

As the noise of the birds fill your senses
And the visions of them when in flight
Catch your breath lest you miss just one moment
And the day turns around into night

As the hands of the clock slowly move round
Notice the seconds go by
Open your eyes look around you
Live life and laugh till you cry

The smile on your lips is so lovely
The twinkle that shines in your eye
When you laugh my heart melts in an instant
Oh how slowly the moments go by

As you sit and you rest in your armchair
And a tear falls from out of your eye
Open your eyes look around you
At the beauty you still have to find

As the afternoon sun fast approaches
And the shadows now dance on the wall
Draw your eyes to the view from the window
And the sounds of the birds as they call

There is beauty in everything living
But we take it for granted each day
Open your eyes look around you
For tomorrow is not yet today

Love of Hedgehogs

Love Of Hedgehogs

In the garden during dusk
Lurks a prickly spiky tuft
Shuffling and snuffling too
Seeking worms on which to chew

Such a cutie to behold
Far too timid, not to bold
Sniffing out his slimy feast
Tiny spiky lovely beast

Chewing on my slugs and snails
Eliminating all their trails
Stealthily detecting them
He's my little garden gem

Scrabbling through the leaf litter
Spiky body never fitter
Seeking out a place to rest
Somewhere he can build a nest

Finds his way 'neath some logs
Safe from cats and nosey dogs
Nestles down to hibernate
Before the coldness gets too great

Come the spring time once again
He will come to entertain
Creeping round my garden path
Seeking titbits as I laugh

Such a joy to watch him go
Snuffling to and fro
In amongst the flower beds
Turning pansies on their heads

Under cover of the night
He is such a wondrous sight
Shuffling from his wood log
My spiky precious own hedgehog

The Gambling Man

He fans his cards out with a poker face
Going all in he hopes to win a straight
He needs the dealer to pull out an ace
He knows the score and he relies on fate
He's sweating heavy from his neck and face
He's done this far to many times of late

The other players are still in this race
He learned to play with Mam when very small
Was weaned on cards and he can read a face
He knows the hands and when the cards will fall
There's none can beat him in this final chase
Eyes dart like camera's with full recall

Piano plays a tune by Santana
His Cuban heeled boots tap the floor
They beat a rhythm in the Cabana
His whiskers twitch a tad he feels so sure
He strikes a match and lights his Havana
Then takes a puff before the final draw

The money's stacked up and the bets are laid
Two players fold their cards but one stays sure
Dealer then turns over the ace of Spades
He drops cigar ash then he smokes some more
His straight beats every other hand that's played
His Cuban boots are twitching on the floor

When Souls Collide

The story of "love" without the word "love"

You seep beneath my skin
With every breath that I must breathe in
I feel our souls collide
When lying here with you by my side

Our lips begin to touch
Each tender kiss enchants me so much
Our tongues begin to dance
A languid prequel to our romance

A dream within a dream
Feelings that cannot hide
An endless flowing stream
An ebbing flowing tide

You take my breath away
Our bodies move in a gentle sway
Your touch brings strong desire
A wanton heat turns to blazing fire

A dream within a dream
Feelings that cannot hide
An endless flowing stream
An ebbing flowing tide

My head begins to spin
Sweet pleasure mounts surely from within
Your name is on my lips
As rapture flows to my fingertips

A dream within a dream
Feelings that cannot hide
An endless flowing stream
An ebbing flowing tide

Deepening
Quickening
Penetrating
Satisfying

A dream within a dream
Feelings that cannot hide
An endless flowing stream
An ebbing flowing tide
