The Water's Edge

"The Water's Edge" Once I dreamt of a softly spoken angel, that only the heart could hear... As I stood at the waters edge, I knew that she was near. My soul cried out, for a healing hand, and as I closed my eyes... The angel spoke her silent words, and the water began to rise. As I stood at the waters edge, her voice became more clear... As the water rose above my head, I no longer had a fear. She spoke to me with sweet harmony, and my pain flowed away... She reached out with a loving hand, and then began to say, May peace be with you, on this day, and may you lose all your fears, My love will always be in your heart, and in your soul and tears... I will always be here for you, no matter what may come, And in your heart you'll always know, what true faith can become. As I opened my eyes, and watched the waters recede, I felt it had to be a dream... But I knew in my soul and in my heart, life is never what it seems. Now every time I walk along, the peaceful waters edge... Her voice sings out to me, and I feel like I can fly, right off a mountains ledge. I remember her words and feel no more pain, and I close my eyes again... And while the breeze blows by, she lets out a sigh, As all of my pain washes away. © Jason Palm 10-14-11

The Stone Heart

This is the other side, the eternal space hidden... A world without skin and flesh, the perfect nightmare relents. Before and after... and even now, since then does not exist... Yesterday and today... as time ticks away, dying in inanimate moments. The air blows, a silent breath, of fragile bitter cold. As dampened mist settles down upon, the light extinguished mind. The forgotten now, converted to, wooden creatures and solitary rocks... Fragment reminders of life left behind, recreating inert souls in time. With delicate branch and sharpened leaves, cutting a beautiful silence... Surviving in a desolate forest, a metallic and withered tree. Only the immortal shadows, unveil his fleeting movements... The dance of silent silhouettes, whisper his untold anxiety. Here.. There is no fear, there is not resentment, there is not blame. There is not fate, there is not regret, here there is no pain. In a clearing of the forest, suspended like a dark sun... Shining in his gray solitude, there lies a silent stone heart. The stone heart remains, in a lucid inert place... It does not do... it does not live, it does not feel... it does not believe. Awaiting his final existence, last events of foolish, dark solitary life... He doesn't know when it will happen, but surely foresees that it will. And with this it finally begins... He does not resist, he does not escape, he calmly awaits liberating self destruction. The falling leaves suspend in mid flight, as time now stands so still. The darkness now... illuminates, by an intensely blinding flash... The fire scorched wind... burns and melts, this existence he knows to ash. The stone heart resists, fascinated... by this moment... Melting his inside... burning his outside, like the daylight... erased. A violent and delirious explosion, splits the stone heart by half... Liberating memories, illusions and dreams, and all of his feelings to waste. After everything was over, in this cold and inert place... Only smoke, echoes and ash, scattered ruins of despair remained. However... at end, this story might send, what no one could see or know... Of the beauties that lie, inside of dark mind, and of what broken stone heart had obtained. A beautiful red rose... so tenderly fragile, bleeds forth from fractured heart... Imperceptibly delicate... dares to petrify nature, now thrives where the heart had died. The red rose unknown... from a seed not yet sown, blooms forth with heavenly rapture... In the cold existence of this place, this darkened other side. She had been sleeping in a blissful place, struggling from the start... Staying warm by sonorous heartbeat, of this broken stone heart. In a short time, frozen by cold wind, in deep silence of eternal night... The absence of light, takes this wondrous sight, red rose succumbs to the frost. Her color, her petals, her sap, her fragrance, at end nobody saw or knew... What happened to the heart, the broken stone heart, was happening to me and you. © Jason Palm 12/08/92

That Which Defines Me

As day departs, and light retreats,
echoes of night beseech thee...
to rest thine soul, drift away from sight,
to find hidden dreams within me.

The sky so dark, twinkling stars so bright,
illuminating paths before thee...
flowing rain in streams, winding through old trees,
to find hidden life within me.

Screams of plight, drown out silent night,
clawing at tranquility that soothes thee...
to erase thoughts of love, streaming down from above,
to betray healing hands that guide me.

With night-time so cruel, heavy heart seeks renewal,
guiding light, shining bright before thee...
to wash away pain, instill hope once again,
to unveil all that fails to define me.

Silent Red Rose

“Silent Red Rose” She's silent... just a thought of what's to come. As the morning sunlight shines and warms her sleeping body, she stretches her arms, to embrace the coming of a new day. The air... moistened, by the dew of effervescent night, bathing her... in a glistening shower of quenching life. Sparrows and butterflies, eagerly awaiting... as she lifts her head up to the sky, breathing... in the air, of peace and quiet tranquility. The songs... of crickets, and fluttering hummingbird wings, echoing... on the breeze, as she opens her eyes to new sunrise. Feeling... the glory in natures presence, she peels away outer shells of seclusion, blinding... all things, with her deep untamed inner beauty. In sudden waves... of ecstasy, she bursts forth with brand new life, serenity beyond imagination. Vibrant... red lips kiss the sky, soft skin caresses my soul, her fragrance... sedates, even the wildest of nature's beasts. Her presence... warms my heart, day, after day, after day, repeating... the moments of rapture for all to see. As with all life, the time... had come for her soul to rest, vibrant colors...replace, as she prepares for eternal sleep, head hangs low with exhausted breath. Tears... from clouds, surrender as she withers away, and falls... back, to the arms of heavenly angels. A gift... to the eyes, of the ones that were left behind, leaving reminders... of a life to behold, buds of new hope to enchant our lives. A perfumed breeze blows, as her spirit now goes, to the heavens so high above... she sent all her love, on the wings of a dove, from the petals of a silent red rose. Copyright 2011 Jason Palm

Twins of the Same Mind

In this life of what's to be, we define life as what we see. The thoughts of love and life we see, are the driving force of what we believe. Of the twins alive in me, one is blind and one can see. With heavy hearts and of one mind, we sleep and wake with dreams intertwined. Our journey is strained by light and fire, with one twin asleep and full of desire. The other alive and seeing what's real, but knows what the first will forever not feel. Of the same mind.. forever they'll be, like birds of a feather.. or fruits of a tree. To understand faith, and what they believe, twins of the same mind you must not deceive. Like seasons of time ..as they pass us by, we take shelter in our minds.. as we wonder why. Spring brings to life.. all the things that should be, like rings on fingers and the leaves on trees. The flowers burst forth..with new beauty and life, the moment a preacher announces... husband and wife. As Spring runs its course and Summer prevails, the heat starts to rise and the winds take sail. The sky is ablaze with lightning and fury, creatures scamper... to scurry and bury. The mind shall define what is serene and true, when even the eyes try to deceive you. As one twin is warm and full of desire, the other sits by the heat of the fire. Both will wait by the tumbling sea, to us all that is... and what should never be. The summer gives way to the heat of scorched earth, as their eyes burn with bright sun. Twins of the same mind..forever entwined, live by what they have done. The oceans rage.. the tears still fall, as the storm batters the shore, As they sit and watch the sands of time..wash out and pray for more. Rain falls hard..eyes are marred, by the destruction the storm had left. Their minds sit by, to try and try, to make best of the awful mess. As winter sets and chills the air, I yearn for you to hold. The twins take flight, and ward off the night, and take shelter from the cold. As the leaves... fall so old, And tumble to the ground. The twins of my mind, touch tears in the eyes, of a soul that can't make a sound. As light grows dim, and time runs short, seasonal stories are told. Tears have fallen.. all turn to snow, as the air grows oh so cold. The twins of the mind.. have yet to define, what binds the soul so deep. It all begins, with the good deeds and sins., that we sow before we sleep. Day by day as time ticks away, we wonder what's inside. As we lay down and sleep, it's our dreams that will keep, us wondering what we hide. The twin that can feel, no longer can deal, with what the day has told. The eyes close tight, and burn out the light, as the night time dreams unfold. Close your eyes, Relax... Let the daylight go. Fall asleep, Breathe... The peaceful moonlight glows. Spread your wings, Fly... Let your spirit soar. The soul takes flight, Dream... Hold close the ones you adore. As with life..there comes a time, when things aren't what they seem. The light of day and dark of night, take hold and infect our dreams. The twin of the night.. though out of sight, can be deceived by what it sees. Through the pleasures and fright.. that the twin of the light, has seen and wants to believe. Our dreams are defined.. as things that remind, of moments we have to hone. With love we have felt, and the hands we've been dealt, which are forever set in stone. As we age, silent twin turns the page, and sees a clean new slate. The one that's alive, no longer strives, and leaves this life to fate. Dreams may come, dreams may go, like trickling waters of a stream. How we perceive..the things that we see, will not always be what they mean. The twins now sit and contemplate, what the next page will hold. The sands of time wash back ashore, as the new day starts to unfold. As I sit by the silent seaside, and watch the new sunrise. I breathe a sigh as the tides go by, and gently close my eyes. The sunlight warms my brightened face, and now I realize. That the twins who are... of the same mind, are the same in my own eyes. © Jason Palm 12/07/12

Reality Nightmare Intertwined - Pt 2 - the Storm

The sun,
warm and peaceful,
bringer of soulful light.
So serene,
songbirds and autumn leaves,
the glorious beauty in sight.

Dark clouds,
hidden shrouds,
building in sky above.
Rain,
life's tears,
falling on things we love.

Ominous sky, before my eyes,
my soul begins to shake.
A silence so loud, dead calm around,
shelter inside I must take.

Minutes tick by, as ominous sky,
can no longer contain within.
The deafening sound, of silence profound,
the storm's wrath will now begin.

Quiet your mind,
allow it to find,
massive waves building on the sea.
As time slows down,
waves sound compounds,
as it rises beyond belief.

What starts as dull roar,
is now no more,
as it grows with vigorous might.
It rumbles so loud,
as it shakes the whole ground,
and instills a new realm of fright.

A breeze all around,
that came with this sound,
grows strong with intensity.
This force now bends trees,
and annihilates leaves,
as it breathes its ferocity.

Like the short minutes the storm,
snuffed out peaceful light,
too fast to comprehend.
With a blinding white flash,
and a thunderous clash,
the storm comes to a violent end.

Reflective Eyes

“Reflective Eyes” by Jason Palm 06-11-2015 Innocence, lingering... lying in wait, unable to feel the blessings yet to come. Do you see it? Do you hear it? Is it what you dream of? Cries of pain and joy awaken, sparks of life ignite, your time has come... open your eyes. What do you see? What do you hear? What do you feel? The chill of the air caresses your naked soul. You make a sound.. you don't yet understand. Sparkles of colored light dance in your eyes. How does it feel? What do they mean? Tell me what you see... are you frightened? Too many questions... so many answers... What is truth? What is deception? Who am I? Who are we? What are we capable of? Lessons of life shape clay, molding, creating what we are destined to become. Is it set in stone? Can it be changed? Are we supposed to die with no meaning? Aging body, fading mind... Were we right? Were we wrong? Look back... do you see it? Where have you been? What have you done? Memories... fuzzy and fading, nothing makes sense. Light... fading to darkness and back again. The pleasures of God's gifts to behold.... pains inflicted, man's selfishness... clouding the sky with fire. Can we fix it? Is it too late? It's the depth perception of fractured hope. Alone in darkness, I see, ambient light of angels.... floating, echoing voices on silent wings. Can you see them? Are they real? Souls of those which come to save... reaching, with wings of love, peace, and forgiveness. Souls of those which come to punish... tearing light from those... who have anguished and pained. Souls of the beaten, abused, and tortured... take my hand, lead me to tranquility. What happened to it all? Was this meant to be? What went wrong? The mirror of life hovers before me... enlightening, enduring... painfully gazing into reflective eyes. The angels of the hurt..., with tears in their eyes, show me the pain... the suffering... the helplessness. The angels of wrath, with fire in their eyes, show me the wicked... the evil... the cruelty. The angels of hope, with eyes of glitter, show me the love, the reunion, the absolute... the eternal. The mirror darkens and fades, warmth and light replacing... my soul glows, my tail wags... the pain is gone, memories of misery vanish. As the eternal light... shines, from my tarnished soul, I pray that it's not too late.. Do you hear us? Can you save us? Can you stand before the mirror, to face the truth.. behind my... Reflective Eyes?

Reality Nightmare Intertwined - Pt 1 - Prelude

As the darkness of... this day unfolds,
and rebukes the strangeness within.
My heart sinks low, as this story will show,
how despair, rage and fear can begin.

This day starts calm,
alive with bird song,
as the sun shines gloriously bright.
I relax in our home,
with my love by my side,
colored speckles dance from glass sunlight.

Mother cooks dinner,
sweet aroma takes flight,
our doggies all gather around...
With a sickness so real,
from an eeriness we feel,
a darkness steals light with cold sound.

I step outside, to open my mind,
to the eerie dark sight before me.
Nothing inside, could begin to describe,
reflections frightened eyes had seen.

Love At First Sight

The night was cold and dark, awaiting warm light to be. As I stepped through the open door, her vibrant blue eyes I could see. She looked up at me, with a smile so free, like two doves... we're caught in a trance. Our hearts started to melt, that strong emotion we felt, we were in love from the very first glance. Minds intertwined, love unconfined, nothing is beyond our reach. In our hearts forever carried, since the moment we married, passionate waves on white sandy beach. Eighteen years have gone by, many moments we cried, nothing could ever tear us apart. True love lives inside, behind wild night eyes, which were engaged... right from the start.

Nature's Tears Recycled

Dawn...water droplets,
resting on morning leaves.
Air... grass sways,
dancing in morning breeze.
Sun... bright rays,
heaven now radiates.
Warmth... transform,
changing what condensates.
Heat... moist air,
becoming humidity.
Vapor... nature's breath,
loses it's liquidity.
Fog... lingering,
surrounding like a white shroud.
Mist... elevates,
and translates into puffy clouds.
Cool... water droplets,
forming high in moist sky.
Rain... tears,
nature's life force solidify.
Storm... lightning,
displaying a frightening show
Cold... drizzle,
falls softly and turns into snow.
Blizzard... blowing,
cottony waves to entice.
Freeze... water droplets,
now turning into ice.
Dusk... glistening,
sparkles of vibrant sunset.
Night... sleep,
calm peace as the cycle resets.
