How can life be so beautiful
and so horribly ugly all at once?
This is the juxtaposition of all
                  juxtapositions.

    The breathtaking beauty of
       a sunrise or sunset,
the sounds of birds in a forest,
      the sound of waves crashing
              against rocks,
      the soft velvet like skin
          of a baby-
the look of love in your
         loved one's eyes.
      Things you never want compromised
but are often taken for granted.

It all comes down to the
good, the bad and the ugly.

I never want to see mass shootings again-
           had enough of those to
            last a life time.

But I do love seeing people
come together for a common good.

I never want to see children
         taken from their parents and
            locked up in cages.

But I do long to see walls torn down
           and a welcoming to all
                       humankind.

However, in this life there will
           always be a constant friction
                of divisiveness
                      of hearts.

It's up to each of us to decide
           which mirror we will
                reflect.

UNTITLED

It's the end of a perfect fall day,
the sun is going slowly down
and the evening light is starting
     to melt into night.

Soon the sky will be velvet blue
       sprinkled with diamond-studded stars.
The air will be cool but not yet crisp-
and a huge yellow moon will hang low
        in the sky,
reminding me of a huge piece of cheese.

I love fall with it's many nuances-
         leaves falling
                air turning cooler
                  clear skies
               and gorgeous sunrises.

         Look and notice them yourself
see the colors of green grass starting to
              fade into brown
and leaves softly floating ever so gently
                     to the ground.

          Fall is beautiful
            orange-colored pumpkins
                 of all sizes in patches
                  and Halloween-just
                    around the corner.

I'm falling in love with fall
             I'm falling
                   falling
             falling, ever so gently
                 into fall.
