Christmas Tree

The box opens and out I come 
The children approach me full of fun
On my branches they place decorations and lights
I can't help but feeling full of life 
The star is placed on my head 
The atmosphere around me is everything but dead


On Christmas morning I see smiles as bright as my lights 
The feeling in the air is one of delight
As they rip open their presents of everything they've dreamed 
They can't wait to have their favourite dessert of jelly and ice cream
 

December nears an end and I know it's time for me to go
Back to the attic where no one goes 
Another year begins another year alone  
The countdown begins till I return to the heart of the home
