Well Nested

In her grandmother's old farmhouse
Amid her poetry ,collections grew
Showcasing imaginatively till
Every room overfilled
Discovered what could remain or to let go
Decisions of compromise ,loss maybe so
Life's lessons she learned, loved and knew
Well nested between white washed walls,
and loving souls taught, lay's an everlasting harvest
Rooted memories hold....

Rain Puddles

Rain shower ceased and the sun began to bake
Leaving upon the road steamy little puddles and lakes
Two little birds ,scoring their chance
Dived into a puddle to shower and shake
They splashed and splashed again and again
Diving their heads, tails and fluttering wings
Flying off, only to fly back in
In awe I watched and smiled
As I wrote to my son Overseas
My worry transformed ,unleashed
As I wait for him flying in .only to watch him fly back away....

Box's of Memories

Where does stuff go ,who does it belong to once it's owner disappears ?
Does it stay here neatly piled and stacked ,to remind us of who brought it here ?.
Old relics ,art paintings ,photographs and toy's ,taking us back to yesterday years
Is it a fact we can't part with it's clutter. or is it the very connection to each
other ,why we keep it so ?
So here now it remains ,moved time to time to parts of the house .
To illuminate our hearts and rekindle our doubts
Our loved ones legacies ,left here untouched ,
till we are ready to open them up .
To feel their joy or remember their pain.
Of those we have loved and lost along the way .
Inside my box's lay their sweet gifts
of their talents left now to us
To hold or disdain , until we connect once again ....

Unwritten

In early hours she types
pages she's felt and known
beyond words ,elements ,time
What has been ,what may become
Encircled in body and soul
Connected rhythm and rhyme
Picks beyond words she writes
To unwritten voyages she roams ...

Little Soldiers Toys

The little Star wars figure is covered in mud,but sturdy and staunch he stands.
A Hot wheels car covered by rust ,still runs with all it's wheels.
Plastic Army soldiers bathed in the blackened earth, till scrubbed clean.green.
Time was when these toys were new; hot wheel shiny metallic blue .
Of innocence he touched, loved and knew.
Afternoon battles with cousins and friends ,Covered in peanut butter crackers
and jam.
Playing in the garden of grass, rock and dirt ; toys got buried ,left in the dark.
Until time and weathered long lost friends reappeared.
Magically sniffed and dug up by Pippy , our beagle pup
We took in that first year , you left to join up .
The treasures she'd find and placed in my hand,
filled my heart when I was sad, and I believed
She comforted me ,knowing you'd return from war someday ....

Best Friends

Softly spring's raindrops fell,
showering budding Magnola ,
tapping gutter post.
Within their song ,
your slow beating heart was lost.
Pure and true ,best friends we grew
Till fifteen years depart.
And I recall ,when raindrops fall
A waggling tail, romps in the yard
and head lap hugs we crossed....

Thunderstorm

Storm clouds blew in tempestuous winds
May's blue skies turned gray
Raindrops pranced into dance ,
And fell to quench dry earth
Flying leaves ,branches sway
Empowered by her wind
Stripping ,shredding
week and rotted limbs
A calming lullaby breeze
Tender and meek blew by
And bolts of lightning,and
Bouts of grumbled thunder ceased
Only stillness and calm remained
Too quickly thunderstorm was gone ...
