Stage Fright

Counting imaginary sheep
Hoping to persuade my mind to sleep
Anxious and terrified to step on stage, tomorrow,
Its three am and I'm already searching for courage
Fast forward freeze frame,
My stomach feels like there's a butterfly on flames,
Sweaty palms and salty saliva,
Really wishing I was only the receiver
Not the deliverer,
My alias is called out by the announcer,
But I pretend to be someone else, call me the bouncer,

Piercing eyes in curious skulls loiter,
Searching for this petrified poetic potter,
My soul gathers its last ounces of bravery,
I grace the lime light like I am abolishing slavery,
Testimony, that was a lame first impression ,
So I dice my conscience to amuse your expectations,
For charmed by your gaze you are my inspiration,
Liberation, transformation listen to this elaboration,

Without you there wouldn't be this lyrical respiration,
For my words are transportation,
Your longing hearts are my destination,
I am a citizen and you are my nation
My nourishment when I'm facing starvation,
I'm out. Standing ovation!

Dear Brother

Imitation is the best manner of flattery,
Growing up in a dysfunctional family.
You were the only person I ever wanted to be,
A real life super hero no offence to marvel,
Every pearl of wisdom I treasure until I lay beneath this earth.
Style and class was like your second nature,
Always on a mission like 007 going on solo adventures.
I drop a tear when I recall 99's December,
When the father I hardly knew departed to a memory only to be remembered,
My physical maturity
Had not even reached the conquest of puberty
I locked eyes with insanity
Though I had a youthful mind breaming with curiosity
I now realize the depth of the calamity.

That Girl

Her name resounds and echoes in my head,
My heart feels so heavy it really feels like lead,
I feel I am dying because I cannot breathe,
But I certainly know she's the only air that I need.

Sleepless days and endless nights is all I ever had,
Stagnent tears and fragments visions of what I could have had,
I still recall when told her I loved her she froze in surprise,
Her face lit like golden rays from the African sunrise,

She needed time to think you know the usual routine
But she left me lonely just like a lost sardine
Days passed I thinking she was going to change her mind
But to my surprise she did not even look behind
I remember her say the words ,YOU WERE LATE,
Although I was alive I felt like I lied in state
Because the words hit me so hard like bad fate.

Tears stood on the rims of my astonished eyes,
She had turned me down the only person who I thought was from the skies,
Outside I did not drop those tears though emotionally I cried,
But I had to take it as a man and keep it bottled up inside.

I do blame my procrastination though, for stealing my time,
I shall revenge not today but hopefully another point in time.

Carry Me Down

My days are graduated simultaneously like pages in a book,
Constantly flipping on each other so I chose to stop and look,
I embark on the journey of the immortal minds,
One which over flows with continuation,
Packing bags bubbling with ideas heading towards my poetic destination.

But I am bound by these chains of confusion and despair,
Held back by my desires in which I am not proud to declare,
Numerous thoughts reciprocate like a pendulum in my brain,
Trying to excavate them I stumbled into an ocean of pain,
What did I do to deserve this pain I always ask my heart,
But the answer is quite simple,
The pain has always been there right from the start.

I wish life was movie, maybe I would rewind,
Back to the fossils of joy that my age left behind,
I hope you got the picture that I was trying to paint ,
This was the message from Timothy your poetic saint.
