The Tavern

I fell in love...
With the bar man, down at the tavern
It was quite an affair.
Until he fell in love...
With the barmaid, down at the tavern
When I wasn't there.
Then she fell in love...
With a back road girl, down at the tavern
Where she used to sing.
Yeah she thought that Boston
Was the right kinda town, to hear her new...
"Country sound"
With it's sharp melodies.
Man, it just wasn't music to me.
And they shared a painter...
Slash-writer-slash-waiter, down at the tavern
He'd serve his coffee black
With quotes of Sylvia Plath
And the rest of that morbid crap.
Then his little brother
Would drift by in the summer, down at the tavern
How he was rugged & mean
And just about the ugliest man, I'd ever seen.
One week he got cozy
With a line cook called Rosey, down at the tavern
She worked her tail end off
With four boys to support
So she bid him goodbye, with a slice of her...
FAMOUS PEACH PIE
Hey Rosey, dear Rosey...
Can you teach me how to be that strong
She mumbled...Child, we just try to get along.
Down at this tavern
Smells like cigarettes
Down at this tavern
No one here can forget
These dark paneled walls
Big bright neon signs
But don't worry Girl,
Cuz we're all just passin by.
Hey Rosey, dear Rose...
I just wanna go,
Home.

Braids and Boredom

Braids & boredom
Loons last forum
She speaks in a riot of trash
Though elegantly styled
She flaunts a toothless smile
But most have proclaimed her half daft.

She thinks of senior bicker
Perhaps has made her sicker
Born an old lady she's told
Though not nearly a teen
Still rotten & mean
Her demeanor was calloused & cold.

Midnight calls on echoed walls
With barred down windows & steely drape
With her slip on socks & their padded locks
She wanders the halls to escape.

She swallows their pills & their crap
And cuddles a pillow to nap
And in a ragged breath she laughs...
No family, no visits, no wonder
She's written off over a blunder
Still most have proclaimed her half daft.

To Him

Weren't you just the life of the party
With me...content to be
Somewhere silently listening to the laughter
Myself as company
Yes I was faithful far too long
And what I thought was wrong, was wrong.
But I'm still loyal
I do believe
Not a crooked card was delt to me
For free...
I paid with my virtue
I prayed with my heart
That still I could love you
Inspite of the dark
Nature, that drove you so
It's all I remember
Yet no one can know
How it's constantly playing the Blues in my mind
And it hasn't subsided that often I find
So if I dream
It means I've slept
But a dream is not a dream at all...
If I've wept.
So when this bitter taste has swelled my lips
And the salt remains on fingertips
Isn't a thought as just as this...
One great & giant secret
She shall spy
One day, one hour, one minute...
As have I.

Paranoia

There was a man there
In the umbrage
Hidden
Shroud of overcast rain
The ravage drops danced wildly
Obscured across my pane
But I saw him!
For only just a moment's fled
But when I looked again
A double take
Another midnight's stupor fed
