Ashley Cambanis Poem
Once upon a time there was a puppet master.
Who was very lonely and wanted something to love.
So he decided to make the heavens and the earth.
Earth was empty and dark.
Then he made the light into a big ball called day.
The darkness called night.
Later he put a sky up so high and clouds that looked like cotton.
Since there was too much water on earth he separated it in two parts.
Making one land and the other called the sea.
The puppet master saw that it was good.
Going all around the land he planted vegetation, trees, fruit and many other
things.
Looking at everything that he had done and saw it was good too.
He separated the day from night.
Made signs to mark seasons, days, and years.
Two lights were made over the earth.
One which shined all through the day called the sun.
A night light called the moon was the second light.
The clouds in the sky played with the sun all day.
Made the moon feel lonely and wanted someone to play with.
He thought about giving the moon some friends.
Therefore he made the stars to dance with the moon at night.
Everything he made was good and still wanted something to love.
Then he made creatures to live in the water, land, and in the sky.
Blessed them the gift to multiply.
Different kinds of animals where made in every part of the earth.
He liked all the things he had made and saw it was good.
However he still couldn’t find something to love.
Thinking over and over what else to make.
He looked in the mirror to see his own reflection.
An idea that he never thought of came to mind.
To make an image that looked like him.
A man who would rule all over the sea and the land.
A woman to be by his side and to share the earth.
Then it was done just like that.
Blessed them to be fruitful and to increase in number.
He gave them all the seed-bearing plants to eat.
All the creatures that moved on the ground, water, and the sky belonged to all
mankind.
He found his love and saw it was good.
His play was complete and so was he.

Ashley Cambanis Poem
When nothing seems to go your way.
No matter how hard you try things couldn’t get any worse.
Life has thrown things at you but nothing like this.
Thinking this is the last straw before it’s all over.
Instead you trip over and fall into an endless drop.
Unable to breathe the world crashes down on you.
Leaving you no where to scream and hide.
All the hurt and pain you feel inside cries out for help.
Unable to fill the hole that burns down in you’re heart.
Through out the years you have tried to fill it with temporarily things.
Lies, anger, lust and addicting things drove you in the wrong direction.
It’s time to turn around from the past.
You searched high and low to fill the hole.
But the whole time you’ve been searching.
God already found you and was with you the whole time.

Ashley Cambanis Poem
Two days before Christmas Eve in New York City.
A little girl named Hope had the heart of a giant at the age of seven years old.
Hope and her loving parents where all together decorating the Christmas tree.
Hope asked her mother, “Mommy will I ever see Jesus and all the angels”.
“One day when it’s your time”, said her mother.
“It would be nice to visit grandma again”, said Hope.
Her mother told her, “You know she’s always looking down on you”.
“Really”, she asked her father with a big smile.
That night Hope woke up with a stomach ache.
“Daddy, daddy my tummy is hurting again”, Hope cried to her father.
He told her, “Alright let’s get some medicine from the cabinets”.
A little while later Hope got really sick.
She was taken to the nearest hospital.
The doctors couldn’t figure out what was wrong.
Running tests over and over.
Still nothing showed up on the screen until they x-rayed on her stomach.
Finally an answer was found, but a cure was not.
It was all too late for little Hope.
She had developed cancer and it was on the final stage.
Any moment would be time for her to go.
Her parents cried in deep sorrow, thinking how to tell their child that she’s going to
die.
Hope’s parents walked in the room trying fighting the tears from their eyes.
They asked their daughter, “Sweetie do you remember about the place called
heaven?”
“That’s were God lives”, Hope said
Her father said, “Well pretty soon you’re going to take a trip there”.
She asked, “Will I get to meet Jesus and all the angels?”
Tears began to rolling down their eyes as they hugged their little girl goodbye.
The funeral was held on a beautiful Sunday morning.
Hope’s mother couldn’t bear the pain any more.
The next night she had a dream about her daughter.
“Mommy I’m coming to tell you that I love you”, Hope said.
She continued, “I know you miss me when you cry but forever I will always be with
you”.
“Tell daddy I love him too and grandma sends her love”.
“I got to meet all the angels and even Jesus too”.
“It’s almost time for me to go back”.
“Don’t worry about me because now grandma and I are watching over you”.

Ashley Cambanis Poem
A young boy lived in an old orphanage in North Carolina.
He ran away to find something better than a lonely building.
From the tallest hill to the lowest grounds he search and search.
Wondering from place to place he could not find where he belonged.
He tried selling newspaper on the street, shined shoes for a dime.
Preformed country music with he’s old guitar and even joined a circus in town.
Many months have past and still nothing could fill in what was missing.
The young boy was too stubborn to give up; he tried once more at this factory.
After along day of hard work he knew this wasn’t it.
He felt hopeless and defeated by the world.
If only he find something that could make his spirit be full.
Deep down inside his heart cried out to the dark blue sky.
He hands fell to the cold ground and hot tears ran down on his face.
The winds started to grow heavy with rain coming down.
Darkness covered the whole sky like a black sheet.
He struggled to walk through the winding trees.
Everything that had owned was blown away by the firing wind.
Stumbling at every move did not make him stop going.
His legs became bruised by the rigid rocks.
Roaring winds blew at him like giant waves.
A small light from afar was glowing on a hill.
He pushed the thorn branches to make his way through.
Moving closer to the light he fall to the ground and began crawl.
Slowly he got up and was looking at wooden building with painted windows.
He opened the doors and found a burning candle sitting on a table.
Above the table was a cross held up high on the wall.
Walking up with amazement because everything had became quite inside.
Everything had become still and all the rain had stopped.
A loud voice called on him and told him not to be afraid.
The young boy fell to his busied knees with his cut hands on the floor.
He began to cry in pain of his throbbing body.
The voice called on him again and healed the young boy.
In astonishment the young boy looked up at the cross.
He asked the voice who he was, then a bright light came over.
I am God the creator of all things and you are my child.
The young boy smiled with tears in his eyes.
Love filled his heart with joy for this is where he belonged.
A child of God is how he lived for the rest of his life.

Ashley Cambanis Poem
When you look in a mirror, what do you see?
A young girl sees her self part beautiful and part sad.
Why do we always point the positives and the negatives out?
A man sees himself successful in his career and unattractive.
Is the mirror something we look into to check our status?
A lady sees herself as a strong business women and a weak mother.
We try to find the perfect image through a mirror or maybe it’s not really there?
An old man sees himself wise and unworthy to the world.
Instead of looking for a perfect image through the mirror look at the picture.
The image was given to us along time ago, the image of God.

Ashley Cambanis Poem
Why do we feel alone
When you’re right here in front of us
Why do we hurt others
When you forgive us
Why do we lie
When you tell us the truth
Why do we hate
When you love us
Why do we get angry
When you show us happiness
Why do we need
When you give us grace
Why do we get lost
When you’re the way
Why do we do all these things
When you still let us in your heart

Ashley Cambanis Poem
Dear God
Forgive me God for I have sinned
I have hate and anger inside of me
Forgive me God for I have sinned
I have cheated and lied
Forgive me God for I have sinned
I have learned to hate and to be cold
Forgive me God for I have sinned
I have disappointed my dear parents
Forgive me God for I have sinned
I have made regrets that I’ll never forget
Forgive me God for I have sinned
I have twisted thoughts in my mind
Forgive me God for I have sinned
For this be my last sin I shall ever make
Amen

Ashley Cambanis Poem
Tears run down the faces of friends and families today.
It only took one moment to change their lives forever.
The faces they saw everyday going to class are gone.
No more will it be the same again walking in school.
It all happen so fast that no one even noticed.
All thirty two souls were taken away by one person.
Piercing gun shots shook the school grounds.
Lost in the moment of terror and chaos.
The campus became a horrifying nightmare.
Parents calling their children just to hear their voice.
Loud sirens came over in heavy despair.
The blue and red lights flashing their way through.
Lifeless bodies were carried off on the cold floor.
Unable to answer the cell phone ringing in their pocket.
So many young lives were lost that day.
We take things for granted all the time.
Thinking there will be another tomorrow.
To talk to that person and tell them later.
If only we had known this before.
So we can just say I love you one more last time.

Ashley Cambanis Poem
People are addicted to money.
People are addicted to food.
People are addicted to drugs.
People are addicted to candy.
People are addicted to T.V.
People are addicted to sorrow.
People are addicted to killing.
People are addicted to fill in things inside.
