I Wept

I wept for the young boys,
like they were my little brothers,
but I know their mothers wept more than I did.
My heart aches for them,
but i know their mothers ached more.
I felt as though a glass stabbed me into the chest when I saw the excessive marks of violence which penetrated their young bodies.
I wept and I wept.
I wept for my country,
for I know not how much more blood we will have to endure;
or the many crimes we will have to witness of our young black brothers, as though their lives do not matter or have any values.
There are many unsolved mysteries in this country,
but I'm still hoping that it will change and it will start with these two young boys.
I am still hoping that racism will disappear from this beautiful world,
and instead allow love to reign over hate.
