Shawn Daniels Poem
You can be only so lonely and so obsolete from society
Everyone who walks by you pretends you don't exist
And they all hurry along before they start their shifts
Some walk by and drop a penny or two
Usually right in front of your shoes
That's why I am here singing my blues
In my torn up coat and my messed up hair
But still a lot of people don't seem to care
I was just like you a few years ago
I was more than you'll ever really know
But who really cares about a helpless wino
You don't you just walked on by
You couldn't even look me in my eye
You just turned your head up to the sky
Or pretended something was in your eye
A young child walked up to me and held out his closed hand
With his parents near by watching as he approached me
The honor seemed bestowed upon him
as he opened his hand to me and grinned
"Here Mister" He Says
I want you to have this money so you can be fed
I looked over to his parents and they smiled at me
I couldn't take his money
As my face lit up with impish glee

Shawn Daniels Poem
On the lake as I sit free. On a vacation I would be. I see the trees and I hear the birds. I see the deer that run in herds. On a mountaintop far away, I see a ram, and he wants to play. He dances, he jumps and knocks rocks loose with all the fun. But the ram is unaware of the danger that leers. I see a cougar coming near. Luckily, the ram veers. I am glad and filled with glee. And I see a butterfly land on a tree. With its bright colors and large wings, if only I could be such a thing. I would fly away, with no care in sight, and carry on all through the night. I fly around and visit the flowers. What a gorgeous day. I hope it doesn't shower. I stop dreaming, and awake I be, and there I am, for all to see. Back on the lake, until the next dream I dream.

Shawn Daniels Poem
My name is Shawn and let me make that clear I am always the shy and humble one around here Lets all go down to the tavern for some beers Softball night has just ended And it was our opponent who definitely was offended By all the base hits and home runs that landed But it's ok let me buy you a beer That way you don't have to break down in tears Pitcher after pitcher we're all are getting pretty drunk I know I better leave before I get jumped Because things are heating up about our opponents being trumped I excuse myself and go into the restroom And when I return I am in full bloom It's getting rowdy and it's clear But never fear Tommy Two Toes is here "What's the mattah' witch you." I say pushing a mans chest "Are you talkin' to me?" As I pointed to my chest "Your not Italian. He says to me. Pushing me back and almost knocking off my feet I grab a mug and smash it over his head You should have seen all the blood. I stand over him and pull out my knife "You shouldn't have messed with Tommy Two Toes tonight.!" The cops show up and put me in cuffs. "Remember." I yell as I am being escorted out "You'll never mess with Tommy Two Toes again in your life!" The next day I wake up in jail and I needed to post bail "Shawn!" The officer yells. "Grab your mat your outta here." "Who made bail I ask." "A Guy named Tommy Two Toes. "Said to expect you later"

Shawn Daniels Poem
Happy birthday to you today
My little son finally came out today
Bright red cheeks and redish brown hair
Oh...... just look at you stare
Into my eyes as I look into yours
I can only imagine all the chores
I will have to endure while on this earth
Right after giving birth
Your so beautiful with that red hair
As I hold you high in the air
My son I say out loud
Man I am so proud
And just like that
You pee in my face

Shawn Daniels Poem
My name is Shawn and I want to make that clear
It seems like I am no longer wanted around here
Washington state has done for me all it can do
Then I got a simple act of kindness from a guy like you
His name is Mike and he was once like me
And someone helped him out too just as he is doing for me
I needed a second chance at and to restart my life
I posted on Craigslist all about my fight
With life that seems to be so hard for me
And my depression that stirs up inside of me
I lost all my hope and prayed and prayed to the lord
Hoping to get on last chance that would be heard
I heard a voice one day say Billings Montana
Go there right away
But I did not have any money to buy a bus ticket there
And it all seemed like life would end here
Then Mike responded to my ad
He said that He would be glad
To help me out because he was there in life before
And someone else helped him out there for
He purchased my ticket and told me there ya go
I am glad to help you now you must go
I cried like a baby and my tears flowed
Do to a simple act of kindness that I was bestowed
I thank you Mike and will not forget
The act of kindness you did for me instead
Of turning your back and looking the other way
Helping a stranger out in his dismay
I just have six simple words to say to you
GOD BLESS YOU AND THANK YOU

Nearly caused the death of me
Floor was too oily

Shawn Daniels Poem
When Shawn was 6
I heard about Indians that throw sticks
Me and my family were all up in the mountains
There was a big lake
I started walking around the lake
I heard my Father state
"Son you watch out for those stick Indians boy"
I yell back "Stick Indians"
So intrigued I wondered back
My Dad begins to tell me a story
About how my Uncle Dean and Aunt Lori
Were there at this same lake
And something came flying out from several of the trees
And it sure wasn't bees
It was sticks being thrown at them he said with a grin
So I was cautious carefully looking around
To see if any sticks were hitting the ground
As again I walked to the other side of the lake
Where a fisherman sat on the bank with his bait
I asked as I approached
"Have you seen any Stick Indians around"
Oh my God I just heard a stick hit the ground
The fisherman couldn't stop laughing he knew my Dad had, had me
So knowing I was fooled I ran all the way back to camp
And began punching my Dad in his arm
The whole camp was in an uproar!

Shawn Daniels Poem
The hustle and bustle as I get ready to ride My leather chaps at my side The announcer telling stories about my ride About the only bull that no one can ride Yeah you guessed it The bulls name is Rawhide Two thousand pounds of muscle and bones Right along with its two foot length massive horns Snot running out his nose Slinging it back on my toes As I get strapped in for one hell of a ride The sweat is dripping from above my eyes I knod my head and away we go The shoot gate opens and there he blows Twisting and turning with unbelievable force Hell no this isn't no horse Hanging on with all my might Being whipped around almost like a ragdoll in flight Man what a fight I hear the whistle but cant let go Now I'm just riding for show Thats right bull Me and you are not done tangling Theres no way your gunna leave me dangling But you do And toss me off of you As I hit the ground and then look up at you I toss my cowboy hat into the air giving you a very long stare But you had nothing with that And came running back The clowns try to steer you clear But you just horn them in the rear Coming straight toward me in high gear Here you come I start to run You just lower your head like you're having fun You catch up to me on the run Tossing me up and into the fans OUCH.(RUBBING MY BACK) That wasn't a part of my plans

Shawn Daniels Poem
Tonight I sit here all by myself
Knowing full well I could be some wheres else
Listening to music and partying it up
I can see why New Years Eve gets all the fuss
Out with the old year and in with the new
I never felt so blue
Sitting here thinking how bad I treated you
So I am drowning my sorrows with hard alcohol still waiting for your call
But you don't call
I found out later you just take 1/2 a bottle of Xanax that's all
Must have put you right to sleep
All because I broke up with you last week
Man I can't even eat
You've been in a coma for a week
What do I do I am so screwed
I am so worried and things are starting to get blurry
I shot another shot and out the door in a hurry
I start my car and there are snow flurries
But it's ok now I don't have to worry
My car looks so curvy
Wrapped around this telephone pole in the flurries
As I watch the Paramedics take my body out on a gurney
D.O.A. I hear them say
I guess I just passed away

Shawn Daniels Poem
Look into my eyes and you will see
How my soul is so empty
Their is no one home inside of there
All as you can see I do is stare
My restraints hold me down in place
As I keep staring off into space
Still in this sedated state
I can hear you talking to me
Saying how someday I will be free
From this ward and psychiatric place
And that I am not here to waste away in my mental state
I want to talk and tell you how I feel
And what got me to this point is such a big deal
I have really went through an ordeal
I really want to squeal
But I can't and lay here motionless
I feel so useless
What can I do?
What can I say?
Am I going to pass away?
Or live and fight for another day?
