What Love Is

Love is a secret . . . Keep it
Love is a rose . . . Grow with it
Love is a mystery . . . Unfold it
Love is an adventure . . . Chance it
Love is beauty . . . Pamper it
Love is a song . . . Sing it
Love is a struggle . . . Deal with it
Love is sorrowful . . . Mourn with it
Love is a book . . . Renew it
Love is a fire inside . . . Never let it die

Innocence of a Child

Mister,
Why did you hit Mommy?

Mister,
You can't punish me,
You're not my daddy!

Mister,
You say not to hit,
But your actions declare you a hypocrite.

Mister,
You push Mommy down,
But you say not to tell unless I say she fell.

Mister,
I try my darnedest to be good,
But you say I'm not action like I should.

Mister,
You hurt my feelings,
But you say you're just teaching me something with meaning.

Mister,
You come home with more than just Mommy,
But you say I saw nothing

Mister,
The night you came home drunk,
You know the night you shot Mommy with a shotgun . . .
The night you left her beaten, bruised, scarred,
Bleeding on the ground. . .
The night she went to sleep and never woke up

That night I was left alone,
Helpless,
Nowhere to go.

Mister,
Why did you do it
When you said you loved Mommy?

Mister,
Why did you leave me stranded
When you said you cared about me?

Mister,
Because of you
I am left here to die
Beside this dumpster where you told me to lye.

Mister,
I've been waiting here like you said,
For days,
Weeks,
Months,
But you r face I have not seen

You have let me down, Mister,
But that is nothing new.

You always told me to be a good child,
So I will.
With what's left of me,
I will wait,
Calling your name . . .

Mister . . . ?
Mister . . . ?

Fuddy Duddy Me

When I was born I looked so funny
So my parents decided to call me Fuddy Duddy.
Fuddy Duddy was my name and I was proud!
I looked so funny I stood out in the crowd.
Then I noticed strolling about,
Everyone was talking and laughing out loud.
I looked at the people as they smiled back at me,
I asked a man, "What is wrong with Me?"
"You look like a Fuddy Duddy can't you see?"
"I am a Fuddy Duddy!" I simply replied,
The man walked off laughing, starting to cry.
As I headed home, a store caught my eye
Sitting on the shelf amazed and surprised,
People rushing in wanting to buy.
Laughing, giggling, and amused by this toy,
Wanting to purchase this Fuddy Duddy joy.
I'm the genuine Fuddy Duddy as you can see,
I am a Fuddy Duddy and proud to be me!!

Captive Gloom

Keep me close for I am terrified.
The Sky's presence gloom with darkness;
There is no light.
I am chilled to my bones from the evening's cold.

Slaughter the darkness
Bring in the light
Stop the cold
For I am terrified!

The moon and stars are our only light
To see our breath in the evening's cold
Everyone is terrified.
They don't know who will be lurking out of the darkness.

I can't wait to get out of the cold
And frolic in the light,
Forget about the horrid experience of living in darkness,
But the past will still keep me terrified.

Deep Blue Under

The sound of the shore
It's everlasting
If you're silent,
Still

Waves crash over coral rocks
And reefs
Soon you hear fizzing water
Creeping up from behind your bare feet.
You move quickly,
But not quick enough.

The water rises as you try to escape
It's wrathful invitation.
Every step you take
The water quickens.

You yell for help,
But no one is there to hear you.
You yell once more,
But the crashing waves muffle your cries.
The deep blue water has taken you down
Into its vengeance world. . .

Where you can't breathe,
Can't see.
You're weak from the struggle of survival
So you just give up,
Without thinking of the ones who love you
As if they never exist.
With your last seconds of life,
You whisper "Goodbye."

Forgiveness

In a sinful world where every thing's wrong
Stones are cast
Ands strike the ground.
My face is beat,
All eyes gaze on me,
But with what little strength remains,
I look toward the Heavens.

The light has dawned
Light has shown
Only you, I've ever known.
You gave me peace,
Unfailing love,
Now it's time
to leave this world

He ascends me from the crowed
While my body remains on the ground.
I did what you said;
I obeyed,
But They never listened . . .

I was persecuted,
Beat,
Stoned to death
All for my Lord God in Heaven

In a perfect place where nothings wrong
Golden stones
Pave the road.
As I take a stroll,
I look down
To see those who stoned me
To the ground

A grudge I do not bear
For my heart is placid,
Filled with God's loved
And Forgiveness.

Words of Loss

It aches my heart,
My mind,
My soul.
Thoughts of him,
I cried

I loved him so
But why,
Just why was it time to go?
We were so close from what is remembered
As a small child,
A toddler,
A baby.

The big tree in his yard
My siblings and I would climb
While he watched
In the shade of a neatly pruned Plumb Tree

His death came so sudden,
But did it really?
Was my mind playing tricks,
Or was it reality?

Eight years old,
Wearing black and green
To His funeral.
I did not understand death,
Yet I cried . . .
Cried for day,
Weeks,
Months!
I felt empty without him.

That day I figured death
That it was painful.
A loss of a person who was close.
Someone you love.
