Scarlett

They always said there was no feeling like it
No words could describe,
Now I know exactly what they mean
My heart melted inside.

From the moment I heard
I was smitten,
Then when you arrived
In the stars it was written.

Like the perfect medicine
You have been described
Changing so many lives
From heaven you must derive.

You are the promise of brighter things
You are our antidote to the past
You are our princess
You are our everything

Once Upon a Memory

Once upon on a memory
It seems like many moons ago,
Our hearts danced, we became entranced
The oceans of our love began to flow.
A lost and empty heart
Wandered aimlessly down a path,
Darkness invaded, hope evaded
Then there was light.

Once upon a memory
Night has stolen day many times since,
While the sky wept, our love crept
Along the winding path.
Obstacles to overcome
Troubles to tackle
Fear to fight
A star lit the way.

Once upon a memory
A day we will cherish forever,
Our eternal promise
Our vow.
Even the doubters, silenced.
The pessimists, hushed.
The 'realists', flawed.
United.

Once upon a memory
She gave us the perfect cure,
A flame which we hold so dear
An angel we adore.
The past was eclipsed
As though erased,
A momentary blip
Our hearts ablaze.

Once upon a memory
He made us complete,
A gem which shines so bright
Our hearts he makes beat.
The puzzle was completed
As though a game was won,
A sign of solidarity
Our mission, our goal
Done

Wish Upon a Star

Gone but not forgotten
You watch over all you loved
Life can be so rotten
Always in our hearts.

Sending subtle reminders
So that we don't forget
A drifting feather or ray of sun
Loved by all you met.

Fond memories,
Remembered forever,
Eternal light,
Delicate soul.

Gone but not forgotten
The star that never dwindles
The shooting star that shines like the purest gem
Life will never be the same

Isolation

Isolation

Silence
My old foe.
It stalks me with its unforgiving glare.
I hide in the wooden harness,
Someone solemn.

Courage
My distant memory.
It taunts me with its sinister whisper.
I gaze beyond the point of no return,
Somewhere solemn.

Freedom
My vanishing treasure.
It vacates me with its harrowing loathing.
I fight off the urge to let go,
Something solemn.

Solace.
Something forgotten.
It holds my fate in its callous clutch.
I plummet through the timber prison.

Numb.

What Is a Dad

Blood runs thicker than water they say
But blood can clot and halt
Water runs generously and feeds life to all around it,
This is what it is to be a dad.

A father gives gifts to make up for his absence
A dad gives his time and is there.

A father expects his title for all he does
A dad earns it by what he does.

A father demands respect for all he does
A dad deserves it.

A father needs recognition for all the things he does,
A dad needs his children.

Blood runs thicker than water they say
And now you see it's true
A father thinks about his children
But with a dad, they are in all that they do.

Life's No Tea Party

Life's no Tea Party!

The hole consumes her
Taking her to the depths
A place of wonder

Her long blonde locks dance
The sun casts its watchful eye
Sudden sense of fear

Fear of the unknown
No need to cower from ticking
She is safe in mind

Mason

From the day you arrived we fell in love
Little did we know the boy you'd become
From first word to first steps
A bright future is what we expect

Riding along on your motorbike
Reading the Hairy toe a million times
You and your sister are so alike

That smile
That glint in your eye
That giggle
That Mr Grumpy face

Our little champ
Our dinosaur
Our juggernaut
The final piece of our jigsaw

The Last Breath

It skips along carefree
But where is its comrades?
The golden guard watches down
Like a burning tyrant.
Hurried along toward the abyss
it descends into wooden warriors.
Familiar faces, now feared faces
For they stand incensed that their cover is blown.
Free from the chains
It gathers pace towards the lowering light.
Crisp and golden, it's skin crumples under the heat
It begs for more time and the elements to show mercy.
The breeze laughs.
The sky cries.
Hail bombards.
The wolf of the sky howls and prowls.
Lonely and forlorn, it enters into a place of wonder,
A place of hope.
The rumbling rages but it lies in peace,
Under the warmth of the unknown
Silence consumes it.
The lion above is defeated by the dark lord.
The breeze bites.
The rain trickles.
The haze flutters.
The whispers of the wind echo
"Until we meet again"

You and Me

Eyes like the earth deep and pure
A smile that ignites my heart.
Like a thousand butterflies,
Your heart beats unrelenting.

For you are my reason for living
Your soul pours kindness and joy
You were my salvation when hope was gone
Life without you is no life at all.
