Dearest Grandma

I was already broken,
but you added to the cracks.
All who live end this way,
lying upon their backs.

You rest forever now,
but your love is always near.
And I wish you well on your journey,
though I'd love if you remained here.

Time cannot heal these wounds,
you just grow accustomed to the pain,
and should the ache ever fade,
you will return to memory again.

For the love that binds us is strong,
as is your blood, coursing within me,
Your time with us has ended now,
and we must let you be.

I love you dear grandma,
for now and evermore,
though you had such a time on earth
I feel you deserved more.
