The Word

So many people questioning why poetry is no longer deep
How often should we talk about the crimes in the streets? 
The murders, the shots, the violence, the drugs
The dope fiend parents, the kids with no hug 
The people selling people, the woman selling themselves 
Young boys predicting they not gone reach the age of twelve 

What should I do?
How do you expect me to flow?
Who am I to preach what everybody knows. 
Who am I to quote what everybody already heard 
Pretty sure I’m not the first one to spread the word	

The word is peace, laughter, respect and love 
Recognition that you been blessed by the one and only above 
The lesson is kindness, being nice to all that u have greeted
Life’s lesson is simple 
Treat others as you wanted to be treated
