Hope

Hope.

I am for everyone
on cold dark days

through their furor they cling to me
or let go of me
or reach

each to his fragment of my entirety
approximated by exposure of soul

I am forgotten
in their days of glory.
I bear no rancor

who am I
I am hope

Heroic Distortion

I thought he was glorious
and would renew my world
I thought he could be the one
to end the tyranny
I thought he was sincere
in his intent
I thought he was Robin Hood,
that’s what he told me
I thought he spoke only the truth
-‘his words transcend the 10’
I learned that he had a past,
but everyone deserves a second chance
I learned that sayings
aren’t always accurate
I learned of his secret dealings-
how he lied to all
I learned that people don’t change in the shadows,
only in light
I learned disappointment,
the actuality of heros

Division Among Our Leaders

When Summer turns away-
The air gets cold at nights

and we can see our breath under our stadium lights.
is it a game? or politics…

those in command should not consign
to tendencies of despotism

denying oneself of control
affects the sum total of harmony felt by all,

jealousy slander spite
invites a monster with emerald eyes

the monster has a mouth
and ears behind everyone’s back.

acceptably foreshadowed by one named Forché,
“there is nothing one man won’t do to another.”

but everyone knows
a man cannot abuse a child

his empire will crumble in the face
of his own violation

The Thing Within Us

our innate desires,
the yearnings
that we grip so hard
we soon become disturbed
from a query within,
risen due to an insufficient ego.
satiated through any form
it will force us to wonder
how we are supposed to act
now that we think
we know something
about ourselves...and others,
we did not before.
what we never seem to know is
we will not learn anything until
we remaster our old self again
engaging it
through our new self
