Lost Love

How am I supposed to forget about you in the morning
when the sunrise reminds me of our lost lives.
Just the way leaves fell from trees, our love was discrete,
my warm skin gracing your holy flesh but these warm sheets are all I get.
The flame in your eyes that made me gaze at your smile,
You are crafted to perfection,
something I find difficult to say about this poem
How am I supposed to forget about you in the morning
when life without love means nothing.

Your Image

There is an image you see in the mirror,
that is the one you feel is superior.
You stand in awe of the image created
but you are without comfort leaving you frustrated.

The voices in your head that make you feel insecure,
you fail to realize that they are the wrong ones.
They make you see the surface and not what is underneath
and conclude you are nothing burying things yet unseen

You find shame in your darkest days,
filled with hate for your wayward ways.
When sunshine creeps in at dawn to reveal it all,
the image you see is the one that is superior.

Nothing in this world can make you believe it.
Not even the mirror can make you see it.
If you cannot accept who you really are,
YOU can never know what it means to be better
