Skyler Bramble Poem
I am plain as a plain
or so it appears to you
flat and equalized
but what you don’t know
what you don’t know is that without you
I am a vast valley
Depressed between two cliffs
Laid barren and broken
When you walk near I rise
I become a plain again’
But though I appear so unaffected
I get a glimpse of what it is
to be a mountain

Skyler Bramble Poem
Raise your shields
Protectors of the realm
Fend off the beast
Press on
Cut with your swords
Stab with your spears
Ride upon your horse
Press on
Climb its scales
Peel away its skin
Destroy the dragon
Press on
Consumed by flame
Impaled by talons
Chewed by teeth
Press on
For your wives
For your children
For your king
Press on
Its blood for ours
Its flesh for ours
Its death for ours
Press on
Fall
Die
Rise again
Press on

Skyler Bramble Poem
I wish I could take the pain
To hoist it upon my shoulders
To bear your burden
I wish I could hold you
To give you comfort
To give you a home
I wish I could save you
To wash away the black
To mend the crack inside your heart
I wish I could love you
To give you belonging
To let me be yours
But I cannot.
O’ your beautiful scars
O’ your broken crown
Such perfection is a rare find
I wish you could be
My one of a kind.
