Who Am I? (For Black History)

Who am I or should I say what have I become,
Well lets take a look at where I came from,
I am a beautiful African American, born into a legacy of African American men and
women who were slain, spit on, stepped on, and beat,
Yet through it all we remained in faiths seat,
not just hoping but also knowing that one day God will see us through,
So if your thinking it made us strong then yes, it's true,
it also built within us wisdom and virtue,
And now we fly across the open sea shore,
Past the oceans we sore,
So with our hands we raise,
Because we know it's Jesus who's worthy of our praise,
In liberty we stand to bless His name,
Together we stand in unity to proclaim,
That we are NOT a product of our past,
But because of Jesus Christ we are free at last,
Not just from slavery, but for the right to live, the right to learn, even the right to
display such bravery.

Time Is Not Forever

Time is to be a valued thing,
If treated as a gift reap the profit it can bring,
It is not forever so you should make it worth your while,
Make it count make it last,
Never but, never dwell on the past.
After your decisions are made,
Reap the consequences that are to be paid.
Regret should not be in your vocabulary,
For wisdom is formed in your hearts library,
Your soul desires trials and tribulation,
For it knows the value in EVERY situation,
True enough horrible mistakes can be made,
No need to be worried for in time, ignorance will be cut like a blade.
It's OK to say your sorry to mend a broken heart you may have caused,
Make peace with everyone possible the love you'll get from it you may be paused,
Don't burn any bridges for in time you may need to re-cross,
You don't want anger to be the boss,
Make every negative situation your stepping stool,
When you make it to the top in time you will rule.
Live love and learn the three L's to live by,
In time you will see the benefits and you'll know why.

Could This Be You?

Life has always seemed to be some kind of zoo,
Wild friends fill your head with peer pressure, not knowing that you do it too,
Parents are divorced,
Mom seems to be a witch of course,
Could my life get any worse,
Life's stomping me down so much it makes me want to burst,
No room for counseling parents are so distant from me,
I'm left with no choice but to find what I want from the streets you see,
Yeah, I get into trouble every day, so what no one seems to care for me anyway,
Nothing but negativity fills my head,
Sometimes I wish that I was DEAD, dead to the world, dead to me,
Nothing but nothing can fill my heart with glee,
When happiness shows her face to me she quickly runs away,
Well I don't give a CARE about HER, she's weak anyway,
When I see her with others, ooh it just INFLAMES ME,
Why can't she be with ME like them, but it's al right, I'm OK,
She'll probably break my heart like hardened clay.
Could I Be You?
If I am stop to think about life, what do you want and need, then take heed and
listen to this planted seed, love, peace, comfort, and safety are some of the
things that you seek, learn your thoughts and feeling sand then you'll take control,
your life had been like a terrible play but this time YOU TAKE the best role,
change the way you think about your situations and then you'll start to glow, and
then you'll see that what you reap is certainly what you sow, I know lifes been hell
it's not hard to see, because that person, once was reflected as ME.
