Poetry

I sit here writing poetry,
The reason’s I don’t know.
Some word’s I write amuse me,
I write them even so.

My father wrote some poem’s once,
And maybe, I don’t know.
He’s writing poem’s once again,
Through me so I can show.

He passed away one Christmas morn’
We did not say goodbye,
Our poetry will keep us close,
There is no need to cry.

Voice

I thought I heard a young man’s voice
Whispering to me,
Where are you going, what are you doing,
What do you want to be,
Have you done the things you want,
Seen sights you want to see,
Are the goals you set yourself
a possibility.
Do all the things you try to do,
Ever go to plan,
And if they don’t, can you find
The right way so they can.
Is the path you’ve chosen,
Straight and long and true,
Is there someone walking,
Along that path with you.
Do you know what’s right and wrong
And if sometimes not sure,
Do you know what you must do
So you can find a cure.
The young mans voice now changed its tone
To a more familiar line,
The questions asked became more clear,
Perhaps this was a sign.
That even though he passed away
Which made us all so sad,
He’s always there, will always care,
My ever loving dad.

Our Silver Wedding Anniversary

Twenty five years ago today,
A young man woke on his wedding day.
As he lay there he thought of the good times to come,
Then a knock on his door, cup of tea from his mum.
Well son she said, the day has arrived,
Very soon you shall have your wife by your side.
He thought for a while at the words she just said,
Your wife by your side, went round in his head.
A smile then appeared across his face,
You’re right mum he said, I really can’t wait.
When at the church the nerves they took hold,
The best man gave a reassuring word.
The organ music changed its tune; the vicar gave a nod,
A couple that were so in love made vows in front of god.
That was twenty five years ago to this very day,
The young man that was me,
The beautiful vision that stood by my side,
Wearing white old borrowed and blue.
Is the beautiful vision that is by my side still,
The one and only you!

For Marie with all my love, Mark

What Is a Wife

A wife is a woman, loving and true,
A wife is a woman, that woman is you.

A wife is so special, so take care of her,
A wife is so special, for she’s always there.

A wife will support you, in all that you do.
A wife will support you, your whole life through.

You are my wife, and I’m happy to say,
That I love you more, with each passing day.

I Love you Marie

My Daughters Wedding Day

December twentieth two thousand and three,
A day to remember in my memory.
The day that my daughter, the light of my life,
Will walk down the aisle, to become someone’s wife.

And I shall be proud as I walk by her side,
The father of such a beautiful bride.
The groom will be waiting, best man by his side,
And lips will be bitten, eyes trying not to cry.

Vows they will both make “I do “ both will say,
On this, my daughters wedding day.
Proud we’ll both stand, her mother and me,
And remember the time that they were we.

Dad 2

Maybe you cannot see us,
When we say we miss you so.
Maybe you cannot here us,
We say it even so.

Maybe you cannot read this,
A message just for you.
Maybe you cannot tell us,
That you’re there and that you know.

Maybe one day the pain will go,
But that day isn’t yet.
For you were one In a million dad,
And this we won’t forget.

Dad

We were not there to say goodbye,
Or there to hold your hand.
We did not know your time had come,
Or even understand.

Why god took you from us that day,
We guess he had his reasons.
For life we know is like a year,
Made up of all the seasons.

Now that you’re gone we have to say,
The memories we’ll treasure.
Are happy and are plentiful,
And this we cannot measure.

So dad this is our sad farewell,
We miss you so so dearly.
Good night god bless you were the best,
No one came close, not nearly.

Sister

Some years ago, a man and wife,
 Tried for a family.
They tried in vain, and then one day came a child,
That child was me.

Their life had now been made complete,
They were happy, they were glad.
No longer just a man and wife,
But now my mum and dad.

They tried for more; of this I’m sure,
But there never was another.
So the one thing that I never had,
Was a sister or a brother.

Now I’ve grown up and married well,
Sometimes though I did falter.
Forgetting some of the things I said,
When I was at the alter.

But you were there to talk to me,
And help me right my life.
For now I’m where I want to be,
With Marie my precious wife.

When my mum died you were my rock,
And this I won’t forget.
You were also there when dad died too,
I’m forever in your debt.

So Margaret this is just for you,
A poem in a letter.
If god had let me choose a sister,
I couldn’t have chosen one better.

Bob

Words cannot describe how we feel today,
A man who is loved has been taken away.
Taken away to a place that’s not far,
A place that is peaceful, just under the stars.

His suffering and pain has finally gone,
And the peace he deserves has finally come.
The love that he shared with his family and friends,
Will always be there, this love never ends.

The time has now come to say “good night”
To a man who was kind, lively, and bright.
A man who worked hard his whole life through,
A man who brought happiness to people he knew.

These words that are written weren’t easy to write,
And people who here them, with tears they will fight.
The tears that are shed though are part of gods plan,
In remembrance of such a wonderful man.

Good night Bob.

Rocky

Rocky.

When we first had you
You were a mess,
Your coat didn't shine
You were in distress.

We took you in
And made you well,
We fed you up
You looked real swell.

The years passed by
You became our friend,
A friendship we never
Wanted to end.

But sadly one day
You became unwell,
You could not stand up
In your eye's i could tell.

That you'd had enough
The time had now come,
I had to decide
What had to be done.

So Rocky i did
What i thought was best,
I took you to where
You could finaly rest.

I hope that you know
That we'll never forget,
That you were a truely
Wonderful pet.

So good night mate
Go to sleep free of pain
Til we meet somewhere else
And go walks once again.
