Through My Eyes

For all of the free people who still make a fuss

We protect you, you're safe cause of us

Your voice is strong as well as loud

Heard by all, especially this crowd

 

We are your friends, your daughters, and sons

Wearing the boots and carrying guns

We are the ones that leave all we know

To ensure that your future is set in stone

 

We are the ones who fight and die

We can't save the world, but at least we try

We took our paths to where we're at

We know no other life than that

 

So when you gather your friends to complain

Remember we see all the death and pain

In order to fly the flag that you love

Realize that we are a gift from above

 

Some battles be fought and young lives must be lost

Please understand that is the ultimate cost

When you remember all the bad things

Remember to see what this battle brings

 

We came here to fight for the ones we hold dear

Most never wish that we were not here

Yet we have to hide what we think and don't say

While you often smile, because things went your way

 

When this conflict is over and we're back from hell

We will be home and have stories to tell

I understand where you're coming from

But please comprehend that we chose to come

 

So when you start to scream and complain

Remember my words and what they contain

I am a soldier, no need for my name

I'm no different than you, I'm just not afraid to play the game
