Mechanical

Together, we take mechanical steps towards happiness to the beat of two broken hearts who fell in love over a mutual brokeness, out of necessity, and not necessarily by choice
we keep up with the ticking away of our time, bc neither of us want to waste what we have left to share each other's weight before it crashes and we're left with two separate worlds to carry in two separate sets of shoulders,
and do not apologize to me for the robotic way you show affection bc it only makes the world seem larger with the weight of both of our disappointment of what might have been but never quite was

Stargazer

I cannot make you love yourself
I can't make you look at yourself and see the galaxies that make up your bones and the stars in your eyes
I can't make you hear the power in your voice as the words pour out of your mouth like water in an overflowing sink
I can't make you realize that not everything that happens is earth shattering, that you're made of something strong enough to hold the weight of the world
i can't make you love you
but I can make you feel loved
