Lisa Carroll Poem
All Because of a Basket
I have a bonnie blue basket
Which was stolen to put in a casket
I searched high and low
Came back from the show
And promptly blew a gasket
Now I'm the one in the casket
And they buried me with that basket
I opened my eyes
To the preacher’s surprise
Then the mourners grabbed the hatchet
I ran like a gazelle
And was chased straight to hell
The mourners stopped short
They gave a great snort
And now I've nothing to sell
To get my soul released
From the bonds of hell unleashed
I cried to the devil
He gave me a shovel
And told me to dig a great crease
In the chasm of the pit
I attempted to spit
To quell the flames
Of hell’s burning shame
And relieve my flesh of the grit
But the shovel I wield hit
A glowing log it split
So I searched for a rope
To escape that smoke
To climb out of that endless pit
Now I'm back at that funeral
I'm not a mourner as usual
Now I'm back in the grave
I am very afraid
My sins are incommutable
Wait I'm sure this is a dream
I open my mouth to scream
I wake up this time
With a really cool rhyme
But it changes not my schemes

Lisa Carroll Poem
Autopsy
My words are my scalpel
My incision precise
My organs are splayed
My veins bleed ice
My mind is the blade
My eyes the knife
The light there fades
My treatise to entice
My screams are swallowed
By the empty abyss
My Heart is hollowed
My smile betrays bliss
In utterance I wallow
My pain I kiss
My soul is sallow
My flesh bruised by fist
My whispers like gallows
My mind to dismiss
My soul exposed
Under the tissue unbound
The words are posed
To uncover or confound
