Untitled Gunsaku

Untitled poem Something
about hummingbirds
passing for haiku

Sits in a notebook
Pondered but then rejected
Not enough spirit

Is this poetry
A sad echo of nature
with no fulfillment

Scratch out start over
Find the clarity of truth
Or why even try

Metallic feathers
Stop on a spinning dime edge
Then rocket away

One single sun beam
Shines through a hole in the clouds
poked by tiny bird

Run to where it shone
Face turned to where sun should be
Thick blanket of clouds

I can smell the rain
Green mud on patches of breeze
Squeezed from between grays

Fate blended with choice
Always good enough not great
Willow only sighs

What is this stillness
Not even decent darkness
Foggy almost art

Metaphysical

Mainstay of madness
Ebon hearted gravity
Temporal maelstrom

Anthropomorphic
Planetary energy
HEART of world TERAH

Yawning Void Dreadnaught
Superluminal warship
Infernal machine

Carbon based life form
Ancient beyond reckoning
Learned the ways of peace

Haiku Reader Dies

Headline news lead bleeds
Accidental haiku death
Investigated

Killed by tainted verse
Unidentified victim
Radioactive

Exotic poem
Attracts curious reader
Dripping vitriol

Extreme allergic
Reaction resulted in
Death of some poor schmuck

Industry spokes folks
Encourage illiterates
Stay away from words

Man-Shaped-Wind: the Abecedarian

Last night I dreamed hard;
A man shaped wind walked past me
Changed his mind, returned

Feel his mind wonder
Haven't I seen you before?
I sleep-laugh-out-loud..!

The noise wakes me up
Night clock reads three thirty three
I fall back to sleep

Head first tumble up
A leaf wafted from my tree
Caught on a stray breeze

Fellow dreamers cast
Unsettled slumbering sighs
Nocturnal vision

I was being watched
Plucked from our common dream-scape
Alone yet followed

something spooked the cats
Haikudo forgets purring
Meta leaps from bed

Her collar tinkles
aweigh down moonlit staircase
quiet dreams return

Childhood home kitchen
everything in proper place
daily chores finished

-+-+-

Afternoon cartoons
Back following messages
Cereal box dance

Delicious breakfast
Energy for playground games
Faster than the rest

Grownups in the house
Haunt responsibilities
I watch dream T V

Jet powered action
Kids save their town from monsters
Lunatics and thugs

Mountains streak below
New character friend or foe
Only time will tell

Preview of next show
Queen of dream sends champion
Racing with Jet Kids

Saving the future
Tune in tom arrow and see
Ultimate showdown

Victory assured
Waving heroes, credits roll
X factor revealed
Youthful television dream
Zooms away, I'm still asleep

--+

Almost awake view
Banished from reality
Creature made of mind

Dream-scape citizen
Everado Man-Shaped-Wind
Face another day

Grasp February
Handle your business in the
Indigo yonder

Not First

gathering haiku
storm clouds spitting three line rain
this is not the first

this is not the next
figure in statue garden
but one another

Nor is this one next
In a series of poems
Closer to loose group

you might stand right here
or here if this feels better
only you decide

but now look around
this may be the true First One
Somehow I doubt it

Certain so was I
Bottom to upwardly read
I was so certain

try to find handle
exit door painted on wall
will you write me out

if out ever was
how did you get there just now
and where are we now

this is not the last
verse in some linked poetry
all I have to say

this might be the last
you hear from me forever
are you listening

maybe this goes first
rearranged by your own mind
free to move about

This might be middle
surrounded on every side
by dreams of haiku

Happy Birthday Nona May

Husband pens his love
After one year of marriage
Proud to be your spouse
Partner in deepest spirit
Yesterday and tomorrow

Blessings of a happy home
Irresponsible poet
Responsible Nona May
Turned it all around
Horizons unbound
Dancing through the galaxy
Astronomical glitter
Yearning to be creative

Never giving up on you
On this very special day
Notions of passionate love
Anon and henceforth

Merrily we sing
Astral connectivity
You and me both bless'd
