A Woman So Strong

A woman so strong, our own Joan of Arc
Rose up amongst others to conquer the dark
Never once did she hesitate, always took the lead
Walked at the front, she knew what we need.

Today she decided to take another leap
Just another step, on a warpath ever so steep.
She entered the world where the sword has no meaning
For now she can rest in a life more appealing.

A mother at heart with tender understanding
She knew when to pause when her boy-child was stumbling
Her daughters she taught to be woman of note
This remarkable woman that life could not smote

Suffering for you did not come from the pyre
The pains that you bore in your heart you acquire
Steadfast in principle for that what was right
Now you can rest, its the end of the fight.

The Shape of a Wheel

The shape of a wheel
Wikus
1/11/2016

It is quiet, it is night
In my heart, a question bright
Should I stay, put up a fight
Should I go, despite being right

Darkness covers no unjust
In their hearts for blood the lust
We should go, they say, a must
They will never again us trust

The silence is just a guise
There word spoken, soaked with lies
Unjust to us now oversized
Their action now without surprise

Will the truth be ever known?
Will unjust to us then shown?
Peace to us was just on loan
Useless for us our fate bemoan.

But in time the sun will shine
People will drink and they will dine
No thought be given to this fear of mine
Thats the proses, time after time

What comes around, goes around
Cries of pain a dying sound
But be sure, a wheel is round
In each position, someone else be found.

I Have a Friend

I have a Friend

O, don't I know the terrible feeling
Of wounds that is just never healing
Of disappointment in a friend
To whom i'd give instead of lend.

My trust in him is now at end
My hand to him I can't extend
As through the smile and betrayal kiss
I could clearly hear the serpents hiss

How on earth could it ever be
That his true motives, I could not see
My faith in him forever hurt
False pretenses, heap of dirt

There's just one Friend that will ever be
One who never turns His back on me
Unconditionally, his camaraderie
At crucial time, gave His life for me.

I'M a Sinner

I'm a sinner
Wikus
19/07/2015

If only I knew your divine will Lord
If only I could venture without fear
If only I was sure its you voice I hear
If only I knew what your will is Lord

If only in my heart I would not feel lonely
If only I could feel your tender touch
If only this would not feel as if too much
If only I knew what your will is Lord

If only you would strengthen my weak believe
If only you would hold me by Thy side
If only I was sure that with me you will abide
If only I knew what your will is Lord

If only in my heart I would accept Thy word
If only in the quiet I could share my fear
If only I could recognize your voice so dear
O Lord, I'm a sinner so weak, so scared

Out of His Will, I Do Not Dare

Out of His will, I do not dare
Wikus
25/08/2015

I guess I don't have to understand
As long as I know I'm in His hand
Nothing I've done is really wrong
It's just that i'm weak and not that strong
I will bow in humbleness
Let God triumph and be glorious
Let the world learn from this example
God's love is not just a mere sample
He gave it all because He care
Out of His will, I do not dare

All I Want

All I want ©
Wikus
24/07/2015

In the eyes of the world, I am nothing but weak
I am to them, a bit of a freak
There favor or glory is not what I seek
All I want is to hear, when my Lord to me speak

All I Leave, Is My Name

All I leave, is my name

And then one day, I’ll be out of time
For me the sun will no more shine
What I gathered was all in vain
All I leave is just my name

From what I guarded and held so dear
In my new live, away I’ll steer
I will look back, no remorse nor shame
What I leave is good, it is my name

Learning From a Sot

Learning from a sot ©
Wikus Hattingh
15/5/2015

No, I am not the local preacher,
Nor am I the children's teacher
For sure I am but a sot
But from me, you can learn a lot

When the moment came to choose
I thought the answer is in booze
Had I had a second chance
At least that could bring advance

Point your finger if you please
Look at me with eyes that freeze
Just make sure when you must choose
Going wrong will make you loose

Give me money for more wine
Let me forget this life of mine
But learn from me before you tread
Full of thorns for sure, life's bed.

How Do We Reconcile

How do we reconcile? (From my pen -27/06/2013)

White was the color to declare the peace
Supposed to leave us with life without crease
It's no longer fashionable, and pure
We depend on black to bring the cure

Whatever the right medicine
It offers no cure for this discipline ,
Now there is a new fashion and road
We now do things on the b e e code

Right is just right with a slight twist
We now move on to an all new list
Does not matter if you know your work
I am black , is that a quirk?

I'm just a person who strive for better
Does not matter that you work to the letter
The dice fell, it lies in my favor
This is my turn my lily white neighbor

I don't want you here, I wish you would go
I will do better for sure , I know
Ignoring the law, does not matter
Everything you had , I'll certainly scatter

You oppressed my mother and my father
Instead of befriending us much much rather
You instruct us to stand to one side
Only whites were welcome to go inside

If this country goes down then let it be known
The grave you dug was actually you own
Chances went by, to level the plain
You don't understand my inner pain.

You think in my heart is pure hate
even if it is, will not change my state
But let me tell you and not hesitate
I'm working on my dream, lest it's too late

So tell me Mr. Farmer, let me know
What is your part in the new solution
Are you planning to serve another blow
Or instead prepared to further our constitution?

You Left This World

You left this world
Wikus Hattingh
4-11-2015

On what will be, you wouldn't talk
With whom to go, with whom to walk
And now for you, the end of time
For you life's clock, will no more chime

The life hereafter, you could explain
Refused to leave this world in pain
Yet now while you are on that side
Unable to, from actual hide

So tell me friend, how does it feel
To meet with facts, you have to deal
Eternity is not a myth
Between good and bad, that massive cliff

My prayers for you my dear old friend
That just in time, your faith was mend
That if He will, we'll meet again
Forever and ever, with Him to reign
