Where's Your Color

Popular opinion over rules
some may say.
If one could comb through hearts beyond name and number.
The real would reveal
truth yearns to bleed.
Secrets whom cards would never concede.

Hands stay in line with dull color: barren, bland, and broken.

How can one find true color when you attempt to paint in the likeness of them all?

Can't.

You'd know not your city, country or continenet.
Burnt bridges.
Your true self makes a slip to a highly alert audience.

In malice
they long await a slip.
Back pedal your true color.
Time and time again.

Smear, swather and smother.
Smear swather and smother.
Smear swather and smother.

What does it take to confront the inner demons that rob you of self worth?
Courage.

Who holds claim to your existence?
None.

Worst still...

Why do you believe them?
Fear.

Where's the clear water to wash away the mixture you long to depart from?
Inside.

At what point and time does one get fed up?

Today.

Will it take the loss of all of you before you come to grips that you'll need impenetrable grit?

Maybe.

The only true crime you're guilty of is to have an opinion.

How valuable is it to you and what are you willing to lose to uphold it?

Everything.

If it is your make, mind and model.
Best believe it's beyond anything money can buy.

It's worth speaking boldly.
It's worth living in the outskirts.
It's worth being rejected.

Out there in the open...

The stars shine brighter
The creatures sing louder
and the grass is surely greener.

That, my dear friends, is always keener.

Stagnant Scarecrow

Surrounded by wheat
maybe shadowed by pines.
Silence is your lonesome ties.

All alone on top of that hill
your wood board a crutch
drawing black birds craving your perch.

Harassed by scorched sun in summer
freezer burnt by the bitter wind
known as winter's accomplice.

Stitched lips render you helpless
triangled hues take in reoccuring lines
upon this old map.

Identical auromas no scent of new.
What about rain and the morning dew?
It appears the straw you bleed soaks.

Hung up high and dry
your only onlookers that of scavengers.
Who says misery doesn't like company?

An exile you may be.
Oh on that hill you stand
willing to let others have the spoils.

Poison Ivy of Assumption

Poison ivy of assumption
a seed transforms into vines
your very branches tread fine lines.

Cut off the ones that offend you.
Watch as the ivy desecrates the character you never were.
Hearsay convoluted, convictions flawed.
Are you so jealous or too overzealous?

Poison Ivy of assumption
ruthless as a boa constrictor.
Crack each bone to keep your namesake.
Lessening a stranger's significance
hoping to encapsulate foreign fences.
All for your self decadence?

Prey lay dying
decimation of their very character.
The ivy as a thief in the night.
Wearing its victims skin it entangles and destroys.

Poison ivy of assumption
is no stepping stone sacred with thee?
Every leaf a captured soul
in your self induced sheol.
Void of individual existence
tarnished and vindictive in your webbed realm of deceit.

Poison ivy of assumption
a cycle neverending
this much I know is true.
Still ever present around today.

As green meets green
as dawn meets dusk
as a star fires away from the sky.
I stand in truth to confront this ivy of assumption.
I'll stand neither by it nor for it.

Poison ivy of assumption.
None call it.
None escape it,
None miss it.

I require proof.
While you die in the lies that never was
and never will be.

Poison ivy of assumption
be my guest
but I won't be there to dine.
