Kendra Ruczak Poem
I lost you out there.
You never came on home.
I called for you and I called to you,
but you never came on home.
I lost you out there,
in the bushes and the brush.
I called for you and I yelled for you,
but you never did come home.
Don't say you couldn't hear me.
I won't listen if you do.
I lost you, and I left you,
and you never came on home.
I lost you out there,
but it's what you seemed to want.
I yelled for you for nights and days,
but you never once yelled back.
I walked and walked between the trees,
squinting toward the sun.
I called for you and I screamed for you,
but no, you never did come home.
