Controlling Love

Don’t try to control you
when I want my own way.
I am confused at the things that you say.
It’s not control to want these things
that everyone else gets so freely.
To be cherished and loved by you completely.
You think its control because you don’t want to change.
You like where you’re at, everyday is the same.
Refusing to move forward, you like playing your game.
It shows when you give out of want,
You don’t have to pretend. You don’t put up a front.
I can see, your true feelings they show
That you are stuck on the past,
refusing to let go.
That is why you think its control
You don’t give freely, your love doesn’t grow.
Hoping the tides someday will turn
In reality you lose, bridges you burn.
The cycle repeats and you’re in it again,
Playing the same game
with someone new instead.
Live in the moment, let go of the past.
I didn’t want to control, only wanted your best.

Unseen

The angels among us,
The ones that we can see
We call them friends, lovers or family.
They are there when we don’t know we need them at all.
To guide us, love us or simply watch us fall.
To pick up the pieces when things go bad,
They laugh with us or cry when we are sad.
Sometimes we don’t even know that they are there
Praying for us, to show they care.
The call that you get at just the right time,
When you feel the mountain is too big to climb.
Some come to show us just how to be loved,
The kind that puts you first, up above.
The way that love is supposed to be shown.
The kind that Jesus shows from his throne.
The Bible talks about the love you should find,
The love that is patient, the love that is kind.
The kind that does not cause you pain,
It does not use you for its own gain.
It hopes, it trusts, it will persevere.
The love that you do not have to fear.
You don’t need to question, no cause for concern.
This love is given freely, not the kind you have to earn.
No matter what lesson your angel may bring,
Make sure to thank them for letting your heart sing.
For the thoughts and the prayers,
The hugs and the love,
Phone calls, and patience,
For being sent from above.

Nostalgia

Don’t forget,
 our passion of yesterdays.
 Elevated beating of our hearts.
A gentle breeze against my face.
 Caressing ever so softly.
A fine mist of rain,
Your touch is refreshing to my skin.
Thunder booming, getting closer and closer,
 our bodies together.
Uncontrollable.
A bolt of lighting shooting down in the night sky, electrifying.
Pure desire.
My silky skin entwined in yours.
I can taste your sweetness on my lips.
Like drinking a glass of fine wine, Intoxicating,
Left breathless.
The memory forever a part of me.
Never to fade.
Don’t forget our love.

Letting Go

This world has left you hurt,
Your heart bruised and battered.
Love was quickly taken away,
like you never mattered.
It’s hard to trust, it’s hard to love
The anger and rage in you grew.
To think back on all who hurt,
the child that lives in you.
Can your heart become soft again?
True love will it ever show?
Can that child like love reappear,
after all the hurt that you’ve come to know?
I tried once to love you true,
to love that innocent child.
Little did I know how hard that would be,
Your imagination runs wild
Images that your mind can see
the anger does slowly build.
The guilt, pain, and shame from the past
has left your heart unfulfilled.
To release the hurt that others caused,
to you there was no reason.
the worst of you I did endure.
I came along at the wrong season.
The quiet tide I wish I had,
but timing was not good.
Maybe that’s what God had planned,
I wish I understood.
Was I a tool used to open that door
for you to see true love is real?
There is some good in this world.
Not everyone wants to steal
That innocence in your heart,
or the love that you deserve.
Some of us are only meant
to be a learning curve.
There comes a time, there comes a place,
that everything must end.
Why was it us, why was it me
That true love didn’t extend
to the end of time,
the death do us part,
The way it was supposed be.
But the season has finally come
I have to set you free.
