Petty Imperfections

When you look in the mirror, you count each imperfection you can find instead of the lovely details you truly hold. You feel too short, too tall, too skinny, too fat. You see acne and tangled hair, chipped nail polish on your delicate fingertips and running mascara smearing your face. Your mind is burning alive with every thought. You think that he will not give you roses painted the color of romance if you are not a size zero. You think he will not stain your lips with his name if you are not 100 pounds even. But if you could see that you were made to love yourself before others, it would be such a beautiful sight. Destroy the mirror, my dear, you were made in the eye of yourself, not the world.

He Used To Be An Angel,,

Be careful who you trust, the devil, he was once an angel. His eyes once held a light that burned brighter than any star at home in the sky. His hands once held up weights so heavy but they would never fall. He was once the most beautiful, the most intriguing, he used to be everyone’s favorite. But then he fell, the light in his eyes had burned so long that it died out and the ashes made home in his mind. His hands dropped the weights, they are no longer strong enough to hold. He shattered and the shards of glass embed themselves in his skin, maybe that’s why he is a match that lights with a single strike. He no longer knows love and humanity, only regret and hatred, his heart is no longer beating, he is not my favorite, darling he is yours, and I beg you to run as fast as you can because his fire will only burn out.

If You Love Him Next,,

if you love him next,,
If you love him next, please remember that he is a very fragile human. He won’t always show it or tell it but he is, I know because I stayed up one late night so he could confide in me what he hasn’t told the others. If you love him next, please remember that he means it when he says he loves you. There will be times that he won’t always say ‘I love you’ but he says it in the little things, in the way he tells you to eat breakfast and go to sleep early, to care for yourself. I know because he tells me these things when I am afraid that no one loves me. If you love him next, please remember that he can be distant at times. He might not text you for a few days or not be as talkative as he usually is, he might not always answer right away or takes things into priority, but he does not mean this in a negative way at all. I know because when we go days without talking, he always returns with a tight embrace and a smile on his face. If you love him next, please remember that he is shy and quiet. He won’t always text first or answer phone calls, but he is not ignoring you, he won’t always talk first and it will take a while for him to open up to you, but when he does, respect that above all else. I know because it took nearly two months for him to be comfortable around me, but once he was, my God nothing is better than that feeling of laughing over absolutely nothing with him. If you love him next, please remember to only do things you mean. Do not say I love you if you do not mean it with everything you have, do not say I hate you if you do not mean it, and do not brush him off if you are trying to get him closer, he will be hurt. I know this because he has told me the story of the girl who said she loved him and hurt him more than anyone else, and nothing is more painful than the hurt in his voice when he said that. If you love him next, please remember that he is a very important human. He will love you with all he is and for all you are, he will stay up late to talk to you and not sleep until he knows you are alright, he will be there for you in your best and worst times, he will give you the space you need but he will never leave. If you love him next, please remember to love him kindly and carefully, to ask how he is feeling, to be there for him when he needs you, to hold him in a tight embrace when he doesn’t have the words to say. I know this because I loved him before I knew him, and I love him after I knew him.
